Reviews for "Get Into New Music Genres"

Nice concept

I like your idea. I don't like the poor quality of the samples, or the samples that you chose. Some of them were just the beginning snippets of songs, not giving a good idea of what the whole song sounds like. Also, nice choice on the Infected song. I've been thinking about getting their new album, not sure about it- I hear it lacks structure.

Kolibiri responds:

I like your name. I don't like the score you gave me, or your font colour.

Check, now turn...

If Parappa the Rapper is your idea of exploring new genres, then I think I'll stick with my "mainstream trash music" lol! Seriously though, you still have a pretty good selection there. One suggestion: try to volumize the tracks, as there's quite a difference between some songs, even in the same genre.

Kolibiri responds:

Well I really don't feel like going back and voluminizing, but thanks anyway.

Well... it's a neat concept...

Yeah, good idea - except... well, you kinda did a half-assed job of it. I mean, no offense, I can tell you put some work in to this, but there really needs to be more.

It'd be better to have the main genre screen, right, and then an example for each sub-genre... for instance, electronic. You could keep the Infected Mushroom for GOA, use Freezepop for Synthpop, and Future Sound of London for Ambient. See?

Here's another thought - only preload the interface. When the view clicks on a genre, have it preload that. That was you won't have to load genres that you aren't going to listen to.

Oh, and the sound quality of the samples would be a good thing to increase... otherwise, you don't get a very accurate idea of what the song sounds like.

And then, of course, there's the one glaring problem with your 'sampler' - all of those bands are pretty 'mainstream' within their genres. I mean - you should be showcasing lesser-known bands, right? Bands people haven't already heard?

One more little thing - 'game' isn't a genre. It really isn't.

Kolibiri responds:

Well it's not meant to show the super underground cult bands, it's just trying to get people to hear genres of music they haven't heard....

not bad...

i now know, of some really bad bands to avoid the next time i'm at the record store.. thanks for helping me clear that up!...

Kolibiri responds:

Wow, you obviousley have pure shit tastes when it comes to music.

more input needed

yeah this could have been beter with more, whether more clips to choose from or longer clips in general. Personally, I would try both and add some more genres. Then your dream may become a reality.

Kolibiri responds:

I'd rather not really.
