The concept of a lonely man who just wants to have someone to share is time. Why not use a newspaper to it's full advantage?
The reason you get a 7 in graphics is not because the movie was incredibly detailed, but because of the contrast between the simplistic and dull characters and the vibrant backgrounds. The music featured in the movie helped the pace of the movie go by quite fast.
