Reviews for "Guide to Sophisticated Living"

wow

add some lyrics and u have a perfect song

Hyper-Freak92 responds:

I prefer to leave most of my songs instrumental. I think lyrics do an injustice to a song when it's more complex in structure. Thanks though =)

I must say...

Although it is a very enjoyable song, I need ask, how many people worked on this? Is it just you on the computer or a band? I'd be convinced that it was an entire band. Send a response with your answer.

Hyper-Freak92 responds:

It was a computer and a guitarist. Everything you hear besides guitars were sampled. It was compiled and mixed in FL Studio 8, and all the parts besides guitar were also sequenced there. Subhysteria is a band consisting of two people; Joseph Blair and myself. Everything on the album unless otherwise noted will be arranged in a similar fashion.

Thanks for the review! Glad you liked it.

Great!

At 1:22 that little bass play was great. It sucked that it was only a few notes! I love when people play with their bass guitars like that. You should add more of it. In any case, the whole thing was great. Good opening, great transitions, and just a generally good tune!

Hyper-Freak92 responds:

lol. More like playing with a jazz bass soundfont and a slap bass soundfont. Thanks though. I love slap bass.

Thanks for the review!

like the begining

The Wahs were a bit overbearing until the end. Try to reduce those a bit.

i dont think its just general rock...

i think its kinda westernish kinda rock, then kinda a bassish groove, then latiin rockishy kinda thing...and it rocks!

i like how at the begging its the drum that starts it off then it just kinda keeps the beat fast and how the song kinda just stops at 0:16 and the then when the guitar comes in its great!

i like how it then just turns to a kinda bassist groove(or porno groove as my friend calls it for some reason...o.O) at 1:07 but that you didnt mess up going into a completly different type of playing style. i lke the bass part that comes up around 1:24, it really got my attention and i really liked it! but i think that there was a bass guitar playin and that it could have been alot louder, because that just seems like the kind of song that bass should be loud in.

At 1:52 or so that part would have to be my favorite of them all, mybe because of the violin(i think thats what it was) that was playing because that high playing really was nice, although tha could have been played longer...then at 2:40 it starts to go back into a bassish groove again and i really kinda got into it. but one of the really dissapointing things was that it ending in a really boring way, when the entire song itself was not boring at all! i think that you should really work on the end, and bassish part again dude, but it was awsome!

Hyper-Freak92 responds:

As far as working on it goes, I doubt I'll be changing anything up on this recording. Perhaps we'll vary parts of it live or something if we ever do live shows. Anyone in the Northern VA neck of the woods who wants to offer us a gig, shoot me an email XD.

The bass was originally louder there in one of the earlier mixes of the song, but I lowered it there for the final. It worked a lot like communism; good in theory, but not so good in practice. It washed a lot of the other parts out and kind of killed the style.

Thanks for the review, and I'm glad you enjoyed it!
