Been done better in other forms.
Got repetetive REAL fast, no new enemies after like the third level, no upgrades to keep me occupied halfway through...
A game like that is tough to keep going fresh, but that was especially bad at it because it wore out real quick. And I wasn't particular about the rune thing
Make it a bit more interesting, make the variety of enemies sparsely introduced by progressing through the levels, and add in a few more upgrades. Make things more visually interesting, and that will add on a drive to push through farther, which is invaluable in making it fun. Some new ideas would also be appreciated, because as you and others might have seen, this idea of castle defense has been floating around for a while, so if you want to make me keep playing, keep things fresh and interesting.
Also be aware of a sort of annoyance that happens when something explodes--you can't hit anything behind the explosion, even when you click on it.
Just some suggestions. It kept my attention, but it was overall sort of a dry experience. Since you've got a sort of sequel running here, hope the next one incorporates at least a few of these things, and you should get an even better score...even though the one you have now is damned good...whatever.

Just to give ya an idea of how challenging you can MAKE this...i pumped the difficulty up to 200 just for kicks...with 10k health all the guards and spells & tons of runes...Got annihialated the first go-around but if you time your spells right you can spread out the damage to take out the whole wave :)
And got about 215k bucks in one round. Booya.
