Love it!
I like the whole style of the Donkey Kong theme. Played it ever since I was a kid.
Really enjoyed the style and how it began, and then got better.
Btw, the guitar part is great. It just adds more in the song and makes it more..occupied.

Let me give a listen first
Well, the slow start kinda sounds nice. It's nice, but I don't like the... creep up melody, if that makes sence. Like the tiptoe melody. The song is good, I'm digging the guitar, but I don't like the back melody to it at the start, but it's nice when you do the scale up quick, but not the boop de boop type sound.
I'm not much of a fan on that ending, either. I didn't like that it echoed to an end. It just left me feeling unsatisfied.
No doubt though, this song is cool.

Mmmn...
On the whole I like this song, but seeing as Jib Jig lies right at the top of my favorite video game tunes ever list, I do have to be a bit critical.
The opening is alright, a bit quiet, but it builds.
The problem is that it builds, and then falls into weakness again. Jib Jig was a very upbeat, sort of action-y song, and this is more like "my life on a ship", you know?
And the ending is just...well it feels like a cop-out =( Very weak and stuffed on as compared to the rest.
As for the main bulk of the song however, I enjoyed the melody very much the way you did it, but again, it's rather lacking in power (and the "boop" sound in the background grinds a little in my ear, though I can't think of what to replace it with so meh).
So yeah, my score lies at 8/10. Looking forward to the remake =)
