Reviews for "The Spartan: part I"

Promissing.

It's not too bad, I've seen some complaints about the lack of detail to the animation, but it's not too much of a hinderance. It could be a little more fluid during action sequences however. Doesn't need to be more detailed, but the images just need to flow a bit better.

What's really got me is the sound though.

Using the actual language with the subtitles is a nice touch, but as soon as it fires into the modern rock, it just suddenly gets this "cheap" feeling. I also don't like how the movie and sounds seems to flow with an 'action/sound on, end action/quick fade." One minute there's no music, the next it's blaring. It just seems to break the mood in my opinion.

very nice.

I like it, about the only thing I would consentrate on improving is the graphic quality. But overall, the story is good, the music I think goes well with the movie, and the cahracters are well thought out.

You've got the vision...

but you lack the artistic skill. I guess I've been a bit spoiled cause my good friends are very skilled artists, but if the movie had been better drawn, it would have gotten a 5 fo' sho'. I liked the different languages, and the music was very well timed, but the scream sound effect was pretty bad, so sound got bumped down. I was also disappointed by the generic green orc enemies, c'mon, you're better than that, and the one with the mohawk was really bad. Like I said though, you've got excellent direction and visionary skills, really some of the best I've seen in the Portal. I loved the shot at the end of him on the horse, you just need to find a really really skilled artist friend.

't was goed

in het begin was het eigenlijk onverwacht dat ze hollands prate waarom heet het de spartan als ze hollands praten? ken het niet better de germanen heten of de vikingen?

impressed

the art didn't particularly impress me. what did impress me what the smooth animation, shot angles, and pace of it all. one thing: he "accepts" his responsibility; not "excepts" it. and the music really set off the tone of it all.
