Reviews for "Solus- Forever Never"

\m/

The mix of genres sure is interesting. But from time to time there's just too much going on at the same time, so that I can't concentrate on everything at once. Also because of that, sometimes it's pretty hard to make out the single instruments because all seem to play at full volume and competing each other instead of playing together.

Most noteably is it when the solo sets in. You should tune down the volume of the other instruments a bit, so that we can clearly hear and enjoy the pretty good solo.

Mixing has always been something that's plagued me, and it's something I intend to continue working on.

Thanks for the insight :D

very dramatic

I liked the mix of genres, but I lost interest in the song at around 3:45, maybe you sound lower the volume of the overbearing sounds and let us get a feel for the other instruments, everything was good up until I got bored

SolusLunes responds:

lol, bored?

How?

Sounds more like classical to me

A nice piece, with the piano playing second fiddle to the percussion and brass, which is weird - the piano should and does tend to be one of the dominant pieces of an orchestra.

I'm interested in how you got inspired for this piece - the way that it sounds is that there is some sort of force sallying out slowly from a stronghold towards a battle. It doesn't sound like they got there, but it does seem that they marched out solemnly toward whatever fate they could carve for themselves.

To alter the piece, I'd make the piano the central part, which to me seems like a no-brainer, because pieces like this tend to get carried by such a powerful and expressive instrument.

SolusLunes responds:

Ehhhhhhhhhhhh.

I DO like the piano, and I agree it does an epic job of carrying many music pieces, but I wanted to try something new for a lot of this.

The inspiration: First I started with the steel-string guitar part. Then it built from there- I guess it was just a result of tooling around in Reason.

Good!

It sounds like a war theme song or something related. It could have more variety of sounds, though, but the whole submission was very well performed.
The rythm was decent, but I found it a little annoying after minute 2:00, in my opinion.
A good audio submission, nice job to you.
