Reviews for "[Reign of the Empyre] (techno)"

Techno > Raw version

Very well done and a great imporvement on the RAW version. Only problem is repetition. From 1:30 to about 3:20 there is very little variation in the beat. Try adding something that makes that part stand out sincei ts the core of your song.

yeah. good idea. thanks for the review

techno version an improvement

Nice, it had a better feel to it than the original. Would be cool if it was faster once the techno kicked in. The static was also less in this version so I'm really happy. Still could use a little diversity in the track though. Maybe a transition from the slow piano to the techno since it seemed like you just jumped into it. All in all though its a nice improvement, good job.

dj-KDUB responds:

yeah i thought so too. gotta work on transitions. got it. thanks for the review mang!

Interesting improvements, however repetetive.

To start: I like your piano and the the way it transitioned into the background. I think the heaviness of it all was good, and your intro was smooth and awesome. Your ending seemed just as great. The variations you tried with the drum and all the other instruments was neat, though it could have been placed better.

However!

Your kick was mediocre. That high pitched sound didn't cut it, and it felt sort of shocking the first time I heard it. The second time in the song it felt alright, but then you cut it short of what I expected.

Overall your song was quite neat, the middle of the song could use some variation and maybe some slow spots to counteract the constant-climax feel you kind of have going. The tune kind of gets stale after a while, so maybe some clear variation instead of some slight changes could do it, but nice job.

I look forward to any future submissions C:

thanks for the lengthy review man. i really appreciate it. keep in mind this was my 4th song i ever made. i personally think it is one of my weaker songs, mainly because i didn't spend that much time on it, and i wanted to try out breakcore after being inspired by nubbinownz and liquidecstacy. unfortunately i did a poor job, and i won't return to breakcore for a while now.

nevertheless, thank you for you interest in my song, and i shall keep your recommendations in mind for my future submissions.

more listenable then the first.....

no crackling this time, but now all of the energy is gone

once again, for a month+ work, this sucks

dj-KDUB responds:

wow dude. what an amazing review!!! you are so clear about what i need to change, and you stated evidently the key elements that helped the song make top 3. dude, you probably leave the best reviews of anyone. from the bottom of my heart.... thank you very much. the world would not be the same without you. at least now you've amounted to something in life: leaving amazing reviews on people's songs.

Velocities, again.

Not just on the piano this time. The lead you have at 1:30 and 2:00 (esp. 2:10) suffers from the velocity thing. With the lead and piano, try playing with the timings between notes, making them less uniform.

The drums. They sound pre-made. They have the "I didn't put any effort into these" quality to them. The same could be said of the other version's drums, too. You could try playing with the velos and timings on them, but I'm going to suggest you play with the settings that make the sound, altering the shape of the wave.

3/10 instead of 4/10 because of the previously mentioned lead. Quick monotony doesn't appease me.
