Reviews for "Dreamquest Night Gaunts"

Well Done

I like this a lot. I think they're fairly spot on. I really like the translucency effect on the wings. They are creepy, but not too creepy, as I would imagine something that serves Nodens would be, because he's not really all that bad. My one question is about the legs. Are Did you give them two knees, because that's what it looks like, and it comes across a little awkward looking. Still, that shouldn't detract from how awesome this piece is.

Love the painting, also...

Yeah, I really like the work you've done here. I also wish to point out something - my given name is Kadath, and it is taken from Dreamquest. It's a shame it seems to be often forgotten by even some of the real big Lovecraft fans; and I love seeing artwork inspired by the story :)

Pretty badass.

I love the transparency of the wings, and the other ones in the background.

I see you also have read Lovecraft!

I actually have been reading Dreamquest of Unknown Kadath, I've been taking it with me everywhere. I love Lovecraft, but I hate how the whole book just seemed like one very very long journey with very little to do with any of the points inbetween.

Nice version of the nightgaunts and I comment a great bravo on this work. I actually checked this pic out because of the title and wanted to see your take. Awesome.

4/5 and 9/10.

ItoSaithWebb responds:

Dreamquest is my favorite Lovecraft story mainly because of it's richness and how he described a whole world. Check out some of my other work as I have been working on a Dreamquest project if you are interested.

Loves me a bit of Lovecraft!

I like them, a lot. They really capture the design of Lovecraft's night gaunts.

I just can't help but think they need to be... creepier? Maybe if the centre one was less visible / more silhouetted?

Great work nonetheless!

"Out of what crypt they crawl, I cannot tell,
But every night I see the rubbery things,
Black, horned, and slender, with membranous wings,
They come in legions on the north wind's swell
With obscene clutch that titillates and stings,
Snatching me off on monstrous voyagings
To grey worlds hidden deep in nightmare's well.

Over the jagged peaks of Thok they sweep,
Heedless of all the cries I try to make,
And down the nether pits to that foul lake
Where the puffed shoggoths splash in doubtful sleep.
But ho! If only they would make some sound,
Or wear a face where faces should be found! "
