Reviews for "{-^MP^-} Techno Funk! V2"

Nice...

Techno Funk? Dude, that's a huge genre... called HOUSE!!! Yes, house is bringing the funk to techno and has been since the 1980s... You're a bit late there.

I like the synths a lot. Awesome soundscape, I think that the sidechaining really adds to the effect. The stabs rule and the sampling is also cool.

Now, for the issues. Note that I really like this song, so I'm getting a bit nitpicky here. First of all, the kick is really pushed back at times. I'm not if this was intentional, but the kick could use a bit more volume. Loudness overall, though, is fine. Sounds good on that front.

My main issue with it is that it seems sorta random. I don't hear too many elements which appear throughout, even though I really liked the break in the beginning and those strings too. It makes it feel a bit disjointed. Lots of synths everywhere, all over... just coming at me. My favorite part was that little arp thing at 0:49 which only appears once more, just after. It needs more continuity, more flow, more thought given to arrangement. Its as if you took 6 minutes of music and compressed it into 3. If this was in FL Studio, send me the file :P I'll do a club mix if you'd like, and separate it all out into distinct sections.

Overall, there were no really serious issues with the mixing. Its not mastered, but that's not a serious issue: Most tracks here aren't mastered either. Some great elements here, I'd like to hear more of it.

Nice track. I really liked it! I think I will check more of your music now... but don't expect more reviews... they tire me out. But inspire me. I might go make something funky now. Or just listen to my Saturday Night Fever vinyl. BURN BABY BURN! DISCO INFERNO!

Bye, 9/10 for minor arrangement issues. 5/5

Wow, sweet review!
House? hmmmmm. I've never really heard that many house songs, so I don't know what it's all about. Thanks for the heads up!
And I love where you say "Its as if you took 6 minutes of music and compressed it into 3". That's a problem I have a lot, because if there's one thing I can't stand, it's a repetition overdose. I usually "solve" this problem by throwing one bassline over the entire track, with mixed results.
I actually made this one for my brother. Hes obsessed with fast-paced electronic music, and kept asking me, "why can't you do more techno stuff?"
So I decided to humour him, and since he likes a song with lot's of different synth, funky drums, and a lotta bleeps, I figured this would be his dream song.
If you want to check out a song which proves I can actually use music theory, see 'Someday'.
You use FL 8? I'd love to do a collab, unfortunately in this case I used different software.
Again, thanks for the review.

DISCO INFERNO meets NINJA PARTY

I have no idea why but the imagry im getting for this song is a ninja on a dance floor bustin out crazy dance moves(cause hes a ninja) surrounded by a bunch of clapping ninjas....
i love this man the strings are a great addition, i love the song structure and your willingness to push a lil on a boundry here and there.

Its simple enough to be a great dance tune that you can just jump around to and complicated enough to just sit around and have a good listen to .
i love the high pitched synth at 50 that goes da da da da da ..da ... its kinda like a taunt call or something like that.

This is very funky white boy... so keep playing that music...lol..
you can def spin this song into a trance techno or disco set...
KEEP IT UP
you know ilove your werk man

Nice as always : )

The first version was nice, but this one is really amazing. I love the way you are using all type of instruments. You are really skilled. As I must have say in the first version review, this song is very Jamiroquai-ish. The orchestra stuff reminds me a lot of Jamiroquai : ).

I have nothing to complain about ; ), well done.

Musical-Pants responds:

Great hearing from you as always.
Strangly I have never heard of Jamiroquai, obviously it must be some good stuff for you to like it so much.
And I love a good variety instruments in a song, I guess I'm just shying away from creating anything boring. The way I see it, if there's a lot going on, you'll always find something new upon multiple listens!
Anyway, thanks a lot.

Amazed...

I keep in mind the lack of mixing due to your speakers and headphones.
None the less, this is an amazing track. I barerly hear such good stuff around here on NG. First of all the variations are very intresting and GOOD. It defies evry endless repetion in most tracks. I really love that violin and the filtered synth/arp. And the bass and guitar are a nice touch too. Top notch music, too bad you couldn't really mix it good enough :(.
I always have some sort of complaint about every song since im very nitpicking :p.
And because this song isn't perfect, ill say that the beat needs some imrpovement. And sometimes it just doesn't feel right in my oppinion. Maybe it's just because the beat changes with every melodic change too. So it sounds like different songs sitched together. If you would have a constant beat going tough all of this it would be more of one whole part.

I really liked this track, good job. The harmony between the genres are amazing. Keep it up

Please check out my new song.

Musical-Pants responds:

Yeah, the beat changes a few times doesn't it?
It was bound to happen without a central chorus I could revert back to, plus I didn't want the song to be repetitive.
But i'm pretty satisfied with the result, it doesn't take off in any complely random directions, it just feels like a lot of different intruments are taking their turn adding to the rhythm, as opposed to only a few instruments repeating over and over.
If you have any further suggestions or comments please pm me.
I'm really glad you liked it, thanks for the review!
