Good

I like it.
Best jazz i ever heard?...no
this is good, but it really doesnt compare to the genius of coltrane or ellington.
Don't get me wrong, i did like it, but it is just not the same genre, (this is more of a funk easy listening jazz).
Anyway, good work, and if you havent already, listen to Kind of Blue by Miles Davis, because it is probably the best jazz album of all time (if not, at least the most famous).

Hades responds:

I agree, this is a more 'easy listening' type of jazz, but I can't exactly say that I was aiming as high as the artists you've mentioned! This was meant to be a simple, short chill-sort of tune.

I gave 'Kind of Blue' a listen, but that was a long time ago, I really should re-do some of that good-old stuff. And as for suggestions, if you're into big-band jazz, I'd suggest you check out Jim McNeely, if you didn't get the chance. That man truly knows his jazz.

Thanks a lot for the review!

not bad

not bad, not too good either
the bass groove and drums goes more on Blues/Shuffle than jazz
impro ... kind of not much, the sounds used are bad also for Jazz
as a "game-ish" loop is quite good, as a Jazz song needs improvements, so here
Things To Improve:
1-make it less repetitive (at least make different bass or drum fills every 4 or 8 bars)
2-if you don't have a right sound for guitar, use a different instrument, something that sounds more natural (or ask for a collab, there are many talented musicians on NG, heck, I would record a real guitar or a trumpet)
3-try to learn more theory and harmony, especially jazz ones (with all those 7-th and 9-th, chord substitutions) and use for same bass line different chords on every repeat

Hades responds:

Well, I do realize that this would require A LOT more work if I were to make it a really good Jazz song, but at the moment I made this one, I wasn't exactly aiming for something more developed. I was going for a simple tune, and at the time, it felt like Jazz to me, that's primarily why I put it in that genre. I'm more than aware of the quality of the sounds I used, but back then I really didn't have any better ones. As for my knowledge of musical theory, I have nothing more than an elementary music schooling, so 99% of the stuff I write is made (in the absence of a better word) "by ear". And as for the collabing you mentioned, I currently have a more developed Jazz song in the works, so someday I might just ask you for a small solo, if you'd find the time for it. Thanks a lot for the review!

now for the complains...

short, repetitive, and it kinda give in the nerves...AND, it was made (at least sounds like) for a game...try doing a better....no, a REAL jazz.....

Hades responds:

Read the comment, I said why it's short. It's repetitive because the point isn't in the base riffs, but in the improvisational solos. I don't really understand what you meant under "it was made for a game". And there are a LOT of different types of jazz. Look it up.

Thanks for reviewing.
