Reviews for "Cletus Brand Chocobos"

Lives up to neither the FF or VG Cats names.

The Good:
The graphics were very well done. I liked the chocobo breeding chart; the glistening golden chocobo was a great touch.

The Bad:
The music and sound effects were very static. The VG Cats characters voices were very soft compared to the background noises. The movie seemed to end far too quickly with little if anything being taken from it. I was not impressed at all with the poor humor. The whole “Bitch” scene seemed out of place. The movie severely lacked references to the VG Cats web comic; after all, this is a fan film. The whole film seemed to be an excuse to mix Final Fantasy and VC Cats.

The Overall:
Thankfully, it was mercifully short. It is not the worst thing I have seen on NG but it is by far not on my good list. A longer movie, and closer relationships to the characters portrayed would improve this movie immensely.

if you're an FF fan, you'll love this!

Ah the Chocobos...brings back memories. Mainly ones of the sheer frustration involved in breeding them (have sex already!) lol. Anyone who's played FF7 can certainly relate to this flash. That being said, let's dig in...

Graphics: Great stuff. The backgrounds were good and the chocobos were beautifully drawn (that cross breeding tree section was really cool!). Even the characters were pretty well drawn, and the way they played off each other were classic anime-like reactions (the look on the guys face at the end was classic) great work.

Oh, and I'd like to give a little advice/reality check to anyone who writes flash reviews: if someone gets permission to use another artist's character/s in their flash and gives them original credit, then back the hell off and just enjoy the guy/gals work! Yeesh... Sorry had to get that off my chest.

Sound: A huge conflict for me. The music you chose was perfect for each piece of the flash, but the voices were comparatively weak. Not to say the dialogue was bad, but there voices are too low and too fast (they might even need a little more emotion in them (the AAAAAAAAHHHHH part excluded ^-^)). Were it not for that, I'd have given you a ten (but I'm sure you'll win me over on your next flash!)

Content: Simply great stuff. I loved the way you pointed out the frustration involved in breeding chocobos in FF and I never thought about what really happened to the rejects (damn that ain't right!) lol. The only problem is that people who haven't played the FF series probably just won't get it (I feel sorry for them).

Great job and keep it up!

Good

Nice graphics, good characters, and the non-working Chocobos that were out back were quite amusing. Nice.

Makes me wanna play some FF7...

...but my girlfriend's PSX is broken and I have no idea where mine is, so... oh well!

Anyway, from the staring-angrily-at-teh-non-sexing Chocobos intro to the funny end scene with the barfing inbred choco... this flash is certainly filled with lots of nostalgia-inducing chocobosity(TM).

Cat-girl Aerith is teh cute, and while her voice worked fairly well ("have sex, damnit!")... the Cat-boy Cloud guy's voiceover was a bit... I dunno. Just took me out of the flash. I could see a human kid saying the lines into a microphone, IOW, it didn't flow as naturally (Sephiroth line especially).

Anyway, I watched and protected this earlier and it was working fine, but now it's jumping back to the play button during the Chocobo breeding chart. I dunno what's up, but... I'm scoring my memory of the ending since I can't see (or hear) it now. If it's not just my (even older than your comp but still working okay) old P2-266 at fault, I hope you fix it.

ok

it was cool, not my type, but it was still cool.
