Reviews for "Maiko (Serenity)"

Nice. However...

There are a couple of things that I noticed were a tad bit out of place. But first, I want to comment on all that you've done right with this (I'm a serious critiquer, so get ready)
Aspect #1: One of my favorite things with this is the sky, and there are several reasons why: One - the color that you chose for it really matches Maiko's sitting position, so it really does bring out a serene sense that this picture can give you.
Actually, whenever I look at it, it sort of calms me down, especially if I've had a bad day, so I'm giving you bonus points for that.
Aspect #2: The facial expression. What is she feeling in here? I would really like to know, but it does make her look very cute. And the way the she sticks her arm out like that - that shows me that she is a very kind and gentle soul, especially with that butterfly coming in for a visit, which, when you think about it, is a really effective touch.
Aspect #3: We are now going to go back to the sky, only this time it's about the clouds. The detail is just amazing. How do you get that kind of effect? I've always wanted to find out, because I've never managed to get that level of precision, not even in pencil.

I also noticed that tiny little building in the background, but I just can't seem to make out what kind of Japanese structure it is. (It's the one on the right)

Aspect #4: Any pervert would go for large breasts, but I think you might have made them just a lttle too big for the rest of her torso. However, you managed to save yourself from any embarrasment (or hashly negative/crude feedback) by componsating for their size, and the way you pulled it off just stunned me like a cat to a really big dog. I just don't recommend that you do it in that way every time. Otherwise, people will think there's something wrong with you (no offense.)
Aspect #5; My favorite thing about this is the hair (just don't quote me on that.) Ever considered a career as a hair stylist? It just grabbed my attention like a moth to a light. I would also like to point out the skin tone, and there's only one thing I have to say to that: How do you get it matched up so well? I know that a lot of people often have trouble with this (which is somewhat irrelevent; I know), but you seem to have no difficulty with it whatsoever. What is your secret? Please, tell me.
Aspect #6: The clothes look absolutely professional, especially the mini-skirt. Now, I know that sounds kind of perverted, but I'm just being honest. I mean, what guy wouldn't like to be with a girl that wears mini-skirts? It's a turn-on, for crying out loud!
But I digress. I think what really brings out the elegance in the clothes is not the shirt (or the skirt), but instead, it's the shoes. Now, you're probably thinking "Why do you like the shoes so much?" For pretty much the same reason women do - it's a necessity. If the shoe fits, wear it... or get another one just like it; whichever you prefer.

Now, for the mark downs.
The first thing I noticed was the stone wall she's sitting on top of. Obvious use of repitition. It's great in some cases, but here, you kind of overdid it, so do you think you could fix that?
Same with the grass. It's not exactly how I would picture grass, and it doesn't really match the rest of the scene. Answer me this: When was the last time that you've seen a lawn where every blade is pointing in the same exact direction? It doesn't really do much good, does it?
As for the eyes; what happened? They look great, but they lack emotion. Maybe you should give them more depth. Perhaps a little sparkle to the pupils. But always keep in mind that perfect eyes can grab the attention of anyone, regardless of who they are. Also, if you work on the eyes a little more, then you direct people's attention to the eyes and away from everything else. (Yeah, I'm kind of an optical freak.)

Overall, a 4/5 and 8/10 for creativity, detail, and sheer cuteness. I love it. Could use a little more work, though. But nice job.

Vortex00 responds:

can't argue with the wall. it is due to my laziness. maybe I will come back to it later.
the grass is not pointing in the same direction, I'm not sure what you are talking about on that one. I'm not about to draw every single blade of grass lol. I will make a handful and then copy it.

I know you mean well but "lack emotion" is not a description I can understand =/
I am a very logical person and need tangible descriptions to understand things. I can add more depth though.

Thanks for the feedback. Good stuff.

Nice

This looks very serene as the title implies. She looks quite happy sitting on the small fence of rocks as she holds out her finger for the butterfly to sit on and relax. The outfit looks like it is being slightly blown by the wind but nothing is being exposed so that is very nice as well.

The scenery also looks very comforting and makes the art look more relaxing as well. The grass, sky, and tree all look very nice and compliment each other in a happy manner.

I have to say that overall, this looked quite pretty too.

Vortex00 responds:

Thanks, and thanks for the feedback.

perty

she has pretty eyes. awesome job

Vortex00 responds:

Thanks

wow!

too much beautiful!

Vortex00 responds:

Thanks!

Really cute but...

It looks great from a distance, I noticed how you said to take it in as a whole... But, when I start looking into the picture it becomes exceedingly apparent that you're using a pattern on the bricks, it's pretty easy to overlook it but I still consider it a flaw as it's so obvious once you've caught onto it.

What really bugs me though are the eyes. The first thing I noticed about the picture were her eyes, they really stand out but that's not what I'm referring to; they seem to lack life to them and whereas you've put a lot of detail into other aspects of your picture the eyes feel out-of-pace and lifeless. It's rather off-putting.

Vortex00 responds:

I'm not sure what you mean by lifeless but they are out of place.
I'll see if I can fix this. thanks.

I can live with the other problems XD
