Reviews for "LR - Dream"

Not Bad

I liked it. But... I think it could use real players rather than synth. No offense to the vocalist, but I think the lyrics with some changes could be a really good song, and I think maybe sung by a better singer. But for amature lvl not bad :)

Setu-Firestorm responds:

I can most certainly agree that it would be nice to actually have a band so I didn't have to do it all virtually, but I haven't the time or the friends to actually maintain, let alone build, a band; plus, my heart is not even in rock, and all of my rock music was just a side hobby because making rock is fun to do.

As far as lyrics are concerned, I can't say that I fully understand them either, but then again, one consistent truth to poetry is that no one truly understands the poetry except for the poet, so anyone's lyrical dissention is purely a matter of taste.

Thirdly, perhaps I failed at mixing her vocals to a professional caliber; I am trying to fine-tune my technique. However, I think you should know that unless I knew half of Hollywood and could recruit any given high-profile singer to sing my songs, they'd do a performance just as wonderful with its quirks as what Raegan has done with this. Studios have methods and software to correct vocal errors in commercial music, but if you ever actually watch a band perform live where they are not lipsyncing (namely acoustic concerts) you will find that without the aid of sound engineers, they too have flawed and squeaky voices. Additionally, I did not have to apply any vocal adjustment to her vocals to correct errors; all of what you heard was her raw singing.

Again, this is just a matter of your opinion vs. my opinion, but I think what you're suggesting is a tad unreasonable for someone such as myself and Raegan who have no studio hardware, budget, or connections.

However, thank you for expressing your honest opinion, and your input is appreciated.

Sorry

Sorry, I cant be part of the "10 crowd" as I didnt think it was anything special. I didnt think such a soft voice should have sung this song, as it kind of deterred it from a "rock" genre in my opinion. "And are our finger wrapped around like tangled vines?", you also missed the "s" on the end of fingers in the lyrics :P I still liked the music but the vocals kinda killed it. But dont mind me, everyone else seems to like it and I hope you go far in the future. :)

Setu-Firestorm responds:

Well, everyone's entitled to their opinion and their musical tastes.

Thanks for the input.

Bravo!!

Superbly executed! The intro was very good, and the guitar, bass and drums were all excellent. I felt you could have done more with the guitar solo though. The instrumentals aside, the song itself is very beautiful. I haven't heard many songs speaking out against war on behalf of love, but I can safely say that this deserves a place amongst the best of that genre. What had me sold was the subject of the song did not stay solely wrapped on the love in war thing, but how it also sidetracked to dreams, and how they can help with pain. I believe firmly that dreams are the realm of the divine, and within dreams and sleep lies a way to connect with loved ones and friends on a level far beyond our mortal reckoning. You sir, have earned my respect, and I hope that you and your associates will submit more audio samples in the future. Oh, before I forget, I loved the vocals and the lyrics were amazing. The one line that I don't quite understand is, "Are those your lungs breathing for me?
And is your ribcage protecting my fragile feelings?". I think I've heard these expressions in a different wording but I can't quite put my finger on what they mean exactly. Care to help me out?

Setu-Firestorm responds:

Well, you're always free to ask Raegan, who wrote the lyrics. She's the other person that mans the Lotus Reverie Myspace.
