Reviews for "Waterfall [R1]"

Not bad.

Maybe the instruments seemed a little to defined but it had a nice slow pace that relected well with the ambience of the song. The progression of this song was brilliant though and the piano really bought this forwards. Keep up the great work.

Kind regards -

Thank you very much, sir!

I'll do my best. :-)

Excellent

Really enjoyed the track, excellent timing, excellent tempo and structure. Couldn't ask for a better song at all. Loved the whole relentlessness of the song, and can see why it's called "Waterfall". Great piano work, look forward to your next track, great job

Whoo! Someone 'get's the waterfall image. :-) It's only meant to be a little waterfall...

Don't expect anything too similar or else you'll be disappointed. I don't really compose any other instrumental stuff - just silly lyric-based stuff.

Thanks.

Very Cool

Hmmm this was a pretty cool track, a little bit too slow and calm to be representing the churning activeness of a waterfall though. Far too calm lol. The intro to the song was very nice, slow and simple is the way to go :)
The piano sorta sounds like those metal african drums that you see people playing on the streets, but in a good way. It has a very melodic feel to it overall though.
Good piano work in the heart of the song, the only problem i had with the song was some parts sounded slightly rougher, not as clean as other parts to the song, but i guess thats what has to be said for doing the piano by hand and not computer generated. :)
Nice track man, hope to see more.

Bezman responds:

Heh. Yeah, there is one part where I go out of time a tiny bit - that's what I get for not practising loads, I guess.

Metal African drums? Like kettle drums? I like that comparison. Thanks!

Thanks for the awesome review.

Innovative

I think that while you've got the basic melody going, the main problem sounds when you put everything together, as the main tune itself sounds very ragged - the counter melody doesn't go well with the rest - it's either too sharp or too flat. It certainly sounds as if you haven't experimented with how they should all sound blended together. Don't get me wrong, some parts work, but others really don't, which is a shame.

I'm not entirely sure as to where you've come up with the waterfall metaphor from, either. To me, it does sound like some sort of a rainstorm, but not that kind of speed that a waterfall runs at. I'd say that if you were doing a waterfall, you'd need to make it quite fast for the whole thing and end the tune abruptly, because technically there is no stopping a waterfall. Looping it might work well as well.

Bezman responds:

It's not really 'blended' together - it's just 2 hands playing. One take. So I kinda had 'experimented', given that I'd been playing with the tune for years.

I'll admit that the left-hand part is a bit repetitive/derivative in the middle of the tune and the piano is out of tune, which might explain you feeling it's "either too sharp or too flat". Otherwise, I'm slightly confused.

You make a good point about how a waterfall should be a loop - that might be a cool little project too, though I don't think I'll alter this. Maybe rename it. 'Waterwider' or 'Passage of Water' or something

Intresting

Not too sure about some parts of this, somethings don't sound too good and kind of sharp, I thought the beginning part also went on for a little too long. The length of this is pretty long, which is good if you manage to get enough into the actual track of this, which you seem to have gotten.

The track itself has a very calm tune to it, though some of the piano keys to me seem to sound a little sharp, not sure if you ment it to be that way. The ending was done pretty well, so overall a pretty good job on this peice.

Bezman responds:

The piano's kinda old and some keys are stiff. I'd certainly have liked some of the notes at the start to be softer. During the later parts of the tune though, I'd probably still play the right-hand sections pretty much as they sound - I think it gives it energy and tops it being /too/ relaxing.

Glad you liked it & thanks for the review!
