Reviews for "Celestial Skies"

Final Fantasy startup?

I think I've found the source of your inspiration, but that's never a bad thing. A game like Final Fantasy is instantly recognisable to anyone who has played it for hundreds of hours (like me :P)

A lovely tune, that gets away from the FF towards the minute marker and goes its own way - much is the benefit of your work with the harp. Much more powerful and evocative. I'd certainly consider lending some solo time to the harp, which you did a little towards the end, but I'd say it needed to be a little longer. On a piece that is almost 2.5 minutes long, you need to give 20-30 seconds to a proper solo, not the 5 that you gave at the end. Throw the solo in the middle of the song for greater impact as well.

the intro is mostly harp- so its definetly in that 20-30 second range...O_o did you miss that? :P

final fantasy is a great game indeed, thanks for saying it sounds like that. Thanks for the review and constructivness!

Final Fantasy.

- Good stuff -
Final Fantasy menu screen, is the perfect place for this song or some epic battle with slurred out sounds. I'd send this in to some gaming company to see if they like it, seriously. It had everthing in the right places, it all was spread out perfectly especiallt towards the ned because it slow down so gently.

- Bad stuff and improvments -
The looping was quite dissapointing a sort of ruined the relaxiong feels. As you should know game music loops and loops until you do something different, so you need to have it fluently following the intro to the beginning very well so the listener/gamer dosn't notice that the song has gone round owever many times.

Cheers for saying I should send it to a gaming company, that's probably one of the nicest comments I have ever heard about my music :D There is still a lot of stuff they would want to see; but thank you very much nonetheless!

as for the looping, I see where you are coming from. This was meant for a menu screen with a simple FMV in the background as the camera scrolls throughout a city or kingdom in the clouds, nothing too interesting- so once the loop ends the game is supposed to send a type of message that entails "start the game already!". But yeah, i probably could use some kind of hook too join the conclusion and intro better. will do. anyway, thanks a lot for your review, kind words, and constructiveness!

Wow

This is smooth. It's very relaxing, lovely ambient sounds going on. The volume on the harp is quite intricate and beautiful, wonderful expression, as with the piano. It's like someone were actually playing them. The phaser and the more synth-ish instruments sound great.
You really hit the spot with this song. Gets my 5.
Beautiful work.

I agree with the other people, the harp sounds very final fantasy style, I also see (hear) that you've done quite alot with that harp to create some great effects.

Suspended-3rd-Chord responds:

Thanks for those nice compliments c4v!

I really appreciate all these reviews man. I'll hit back the three tracks you've posted when I get the chance. Thanks again :D

This definetly sounds like some Final Fantasy start screen melody, heh.

I like how you start with the piano and than add the other instruments in there slowly and quietly, never outpowering the piano.

The strings sound very nice and relaxing, just like the whole song is very relaxing :) .

I think this could either be used in the main screen or maybe when the credits roll out. But then again, if this is used in the credits, very few people will notice it, has I don't think that many people are actually watching the credits ^^.
