Intro legitimately sounds like it's straight out of a film. Actually, the whole thing
Mix-
shaker is WAY up. Could come down as there is nothing in that sound space
I think at points reverb gets to be a bit much, such as on the gong, and on your horns. Tin whistle can come down just a bit before 2:15
The FX at 2:22 abruptly cuts off. Can be taken down as well, and potentially a small reverb slap back after the cut off to fit in the space better.
The voice at 3 min as well as the lead doubling that line can be thinned out in the low-mids, shaker again is too loud. I want to hear a bit more of the 1000 dB bass drum on beat 1 and some low end.
Great work otherwise!
I like the Celtic sound design and majestic melodies. The little scoop/glissando at :41 sounds a bit unnatural, but I like the crisp percussion and authoritative string lines thereafter. You blend in some electronic effects, like the jittery bass at 1:12, into the texture quite well, and the texture here feels quite loose, organic, and well-humanized. The melodies at 1:46 serve as a great “point of arrival,” and I also like the approach you’ve taken to balancing out the texture, with no one instrument serving as the lead melody by itself for very long. The breakdown at 2:18 with the string melodies is absolutely gorgeous, and you transitioned very smoothly into the key change at 2:50. The production quality is absolutely flawless, by the way - just a crystal clear mix with rich textures and punchy percussion throughout. The vocals and brass taking the lead on the melodic content towards the end was another wise compositional choice. I thought the transition into the outro at 3:58 was a tad sudden, but the outro itself was also rather beautiful. Amazing work, Lordant! By all means, keep it up. ^_^
