i HATE shitty/boring sprite flashes, thank God this wasn't one. not only that but you actually animated the sprites, like actually manipulating them to move the way you wanted. the effort was not unoticed. the only thing is you should work on the file size. hopefully the mushrooms and bad guys were all one single graphic, but multiplied.
