Reviews for "Karco - Rush (Demo)"

Finish it, damnit!

It has potential to be a great tune, but like you said, it's a demo, so no full score from me! 4 and 8 is respectable, anyway.

Now some creative criticism. (You wouldn't put up a demo unless you wanted some, right :) Ok!

The first thing that came to mind is that the song is too slow. You're plodding along at 109 bpm. Unless you're intentionally taking the song slow, you should really take this tune waaaay up, between 150-160. Most dance tunes fall between 130-145, but because of the sound, styling and chords progression, this tune would be better suited at a faster dance temper, ala the happy/frantic tunes of DDR. When you develop the song you might want to make a really slow section in the middle, only to build it up to full speed again. It would create some tremendous hype.

Second: do not apologize for it being too loud! That's what this music is supposed to be!

EQing and compression: You need it. Since all your sounds are high energy you need to make sure they all have some wiggle room. I also want to hear everything else throb around that kick.

Also on the high energy note: Use a good resonant lowpass filter to roll off the high end in sections, then and build up into a huge sweeping crescendo.

Well, that should get you started!.. Then again, I could develop the song for you if you like! Damnit! Now I really want to! :P I already have a remix of Temple in the pipeline, so what's one more, right?

Let me know!

Keep up the good work.

Karco responds:

Eh, it's a demo, that isn't likely to be finished. It kinda got left behind by my other projects which took priority over it. :\

And yep, you're right! ;D I'll respond to your thoughts point by point...

I AM taking the song slow, I tried to get this to be a slower-paced, though still energetic, trance song. ;) I've tried before to speed it up... it didn't work out too well, to be honest. :\

Ha, ok. :D

EQing/Compression were probably the two hardest parts of making this song and probably what killed the chances of this getting finished. I know what you mean by wiggle room, I talk about it all the time in my reviews. ;D

Hmm, interesting thought with the lowpass filter, it sounds a bit simple in my opinion but I'll try it if I get the chance. ;) Sounds like something I'd put in a buildup after the breakdown or something.

You'd develop the song for me? :O Well, if you have Nexus (and possibly a few expansions) and VEC2, then I'll send you the .flp myself. :P It's not going to get anywhere with me, anyway... heck, maybe we could turn it into a collab of some kind. :P Check your PM inbox.

Thanks for the detailed review, glad you liked it! :D

not to bad.

lol its like a love song almost.. I think it does need a little work over all though its got a great sound and when you do i'm sure it'll shine like no other =). OVer all though i like it! great work!

This Track Is.... Wait, Demo? o.O

I happened to really enjoy this song; even though it is going to probably get a little work done on it soon. Even if you do come out with the final product, a track using this as its base, I'd still probably like it just as much- if not, maybe even more. This demo really caught my attention and made me pay close attention to the subtle rhythme at certain parts of it.

I think it was just around a minute and thirteen seconds into the track when you made that transfer over to a slower beat. No offense, but that transfer was a little.... ehh, I don't know; sudden maybe? To me, it went from happy-go-lucky and positive, to that wind chime-ish/soft sound and then to that almost steady beat until the end of the track. Maybe it was because I took a liking to the first minute of the track, but I found the change kind of sudden. Great job, I can't wait to see how this thing turns out! 5/5 ^_^

Karco responds:

I never made any changes in the beat, the tempo and drums stayed the same the entire time. If you're talking about the transition into that section, it was a temporary one all along. I did a bit more work since this demo and I ended up deleting it. XD

IF I finish it, I can definitely say it won't dissapoint. Thing is, it's going deadeningly slow. :\

Thanks for the review!

OUCH!

hahaha. This thing destroyed my ear drums, dude, lol. I had headphones on and it totally pwned my ears. After the initial shock and some lowering of the volume I gave it a second go since it didn't sound like it sounded bad when I tossed my headphones off my ears.

You have a real interesting song here by the way. It doesn't quite feel like a demo since it's almost two minutes long but hey :P The song sounds generally pretty good and has a nice ring to it. Also....I hate to say and admit it but having the songs volume so darn loud made the song a bit more distinctive and fun to listen to than most songs. The only thing I would think you would need to work on the song would be to subtract a bit of the main melody and or change it up a bit. The ending was nice though. Not a bad song. I think it's worth about an eight in my books. I'll vote 5 too.

Karco responds:

Ouch, sorry! XD

Yeah, huh? Thing is, trance songs typically stretch to somewhere between six and ten minutes long. That makes this a demo. ;D What exactly did you mean concerning the melody, though?

Anyway, thanks for the review and the 5, glad you liked it. :D

Unfinished Greatness!

I loved the break at 1.12. The tune then reminds me of "take my breath away" ha ha. Personally i think you left that break 1 repitition too long (sorry if i'm using the wrong terminology, what i'm saying is the break should of been around 0.55)
This is deffinately going on my car stereo as the bass in this is kick arse, but i believe - as you do too - this is a demo and has the potential to be real popular. Myself, i think its catchy and will be "in my head" for a bit.
Please Karco put some more effort and work on this and i can see this being played in clubs.
I gave an 8 because, although it sounds great its unfinished.

Karco responds:

Augh, I really should listen to more music outside of my comfort zone. I've never heard "Take My Breath Away." D: You kinda lost me there with the "break 1 repetition" part, but the structure's not completely final in this demo anyway. ;)

I try, I try! Thing is, the new break I made wants to split off from the original song and become its own song, so I need to figure out how to deal with that first. ._. That, and I have tons of stuff going on right now - WIPs, school stuff - there's not that big a chance much progress is going to happen.

Thanks for the review, glad you liked it. :)
