Reviews for "Mr. 36 is buried in the ground now. But I don't understand why."

is this an instruments of war reference..?

LLAAPPSSEE responds:

No sir.
Final Fantasy 9.

That is a very interesting high pitched, blippy sound sound lmao
Either that's a hardware synth or you are a sound designer from God
Edit: I don't rate much 5 stars whatsoever being a bit of a critic but I changed my mind and this 100% deserves it

LLAAPPSSEE responds:

That's a midi soft-synth/soundfont. A bit of a happy accident. I found that sound by playing the original midi instrument at such a high pitch it created these kinds of artifacting sounds... it broke down. I then tempered that sound and rhythmized/each note played a different texture essentially. From God? I'd assume a God would sound better. I am but a humble sonic explorer. I hope it doesn't demystify the sound. That synthetic mechanical whirling (As I hear it) was the fulcrum of this piece though -- inspired the rest of the music.

Ratings are for the biiiiirds. Like what you like. You can critique it later.

Another banger MAN YOU ARE CRAZY

LLAAPPSSEE responds:

I can assure you that I am, indeed, crazy.
(at least a little bit)

I like the frantic and dissonant riff at the beginning and the warm, jazzy chords overlaying it. I'm not a huge fan of that snare sample - somehow, it sounds pretty dry and flat relative to the atmosphere of the piece. I like the E-piano solos at around 1:55, and the texture really fills out nicely by the end. I don't mind that snare too much when it's overwhelmed by the pensive, jazzy solos. :D Solid work, LAPSE! ^_^

LLAAPPSSEE responds:

This whole piece started because of that intro glitchy synth noodling. Another happy accident. I get where you're coming from on the snare. It's just a simple noise generated snare. I suppose to reminisce and reference old 8-bit/16-bit games. Maybe it's just to loud. I should go back and add some little effects flourishes or something here and there to break it up. Or some light volume adjustments here and there. Sometimes you just get caught up in a drum groove and let'er ride.

Our world often tries to shove their ideals, ideas, and philosophies down out throats with little care for our freedom to choose, our freedom to feel, and our freedom to experience. It's little experiences like this simple little tune, nestled in this corner of the internet and waiting patiently to be discovered, that show us that we don't need complexities and "more more more" to feel complete and content. Thank you.

LLAAPPSSEE responds:

I like what you've written here and agree. I don't much like being spoon-fed either and I don't need much to get by. I'm glad you think I'm worthwhile. S'what it's all about at the end of the day.
