Reviews for "The Belmont Legend"

Incredible!

This song is incredible! I have one question to ask, do you think I can have your permission to use this in my game sped up? This is would make perfect boss music!

NickPerrin responds:

Hey! Thanks for the review. As long as I'm credited and the game is not used for any commercial purpose, I'm fine with this being used. Cheers, and let me know when your game is done!

Impressive

Very enjoyable :P

You've taken a well known track and re-arranged it successfully into a completely different style :D

Very well arranged and produced, well done.

On a side note, you should consider submitting this to OCR

NickPerrin responds:

Thanks for the review. I am definitely going to submit a piece or two to OCR, but which one exactly is yet to be decided, as many of these "8-bit Philharmonic" tracks are going to be on the album alone... for now!
Cheers!

You Own!

I give you a 10 out of 10 for a beautifully put together piece and an excellent knowledge of the piece you are working with. Can't wait to see more!

MusicReviewer, NickPerrin just owned you.

NickPerrin responds:

Thanks for the review. I love Castlevania music, and definitely know some of these tunes inside out! This album of 8-bit tunes remade like this is still being worked on. It's a serious labour of love, IE taking lots of time, but the results are worth it so far. So stay tuned!
Thanks again.

You did not make this

I'm sorry, but this exact song, bells and whistles and all came from the VGL Compilation tour, this is not original, you get 0 for claiming you made this at all

NickPerrin responds:

This is one of the very first tracks I made as part of my 8-bit Philharmonic project, in early 2008. Not until after I began the project did I hear about VGL, and it was even longer still until I actually heard any of VGL's performances (eventually saw them at an 100% free performance in Toronto over the summer). Even with that in mind, I wanted to know if you had a point, so I have just gone and listened online to the only VGL Castlevania arrangement I could find, "Castlevania Rock," and it is by no means the same as this. Even ignoring the obvious Rock stylization that is not present here, the arrangement seems to be based on the old rare Castlevania album "Dracula New Classic", whose arrangement of Vampire Killer I knew well when creating this remake but purposely did not want to imitate, so that's not the same either. If there is another arrangement, something newer that I'm not aware of, please let me know where I can find it.

So, with all this in mind, I take your review as a compliment to the style and orchestration.

If you think that I am claiming to have composed the source material, then you're right that I didn't write the 8-bit tunes on Castlevania for the NES. I never claimed I did and I would then tell you to PLEASE read the description before writing a review. It explains it all. And obviously, this song doesn't come from VGL either.

dude...

I can't stop listening to this! You did a wonderful job, and I don't think I will ever hear a better remix of these songs. Totally awesome! Keep it up!
