Haha, Paranoia Agent forgotten? Paranoia Agent was like a glue to make Cliff Notes for FLCL and Ghost in the Shell, do you know what I mean? Make Ghost in the Shell aspects a little lighter (a little more isolated and not a whole society) and FLCL aspects a little more realistic and serious. Who says anime isn't responsible? Kill La Kill is like that for Gundam too if you ask me.
