Reviews for "_-={An Unseen Dance}=-_"

:O :O :O

Yeah, another song you made which makes my jaw drop in the first 5 seconds XD The accordion is an interesting touch, maybe it doesnt completely fit the style, but eh, why not? It's amazing how you can come up with classical/rpg songs that are the same genre but ages from each other in style. So I'd give you 10 for originality if there was still an originality score =_= idiotic new system...
Drums are awezome, just as the little medieval guitars(?). However. Something is wrong with the choirs. I feel they sound a bit too artificial, the notes are too separated. Perhaps if you turned up the wetness they'd be more realistic. I'm used to hearing astonishing choirs in your songs... So the score's actually 9,5 cause of this, but there's no such value, so I give you the 10. Dled.

MaestroRage responds:

I should start making songs which make your eyelids drop in 5 seconds :D! Bust out the 5 hour single note songs!

This song did very little in terms of caring if the style matched it or not. If I thought it was an interesting mix, then damn it, it was an interesting mix >:(!

I miss the old system too :(, but we have to get used to this one, it's got a lot of great stuff thrown on top of it too!

The choirs do have that issue, I just noticed them now. I wasn't paying too much attention to them this time around, focused my all on making the harmonies for the solo vocalist.

Thanks for the review Skragga, i'm glad you liked it! Cheers for catching the choirs!

hmhmmhh

god forbid, this is truly a great piece of almost medieval music. the drums are just stunning...damn I want them RIGHT NOW...I think you told SBB or someone here what exactly you've done with the percussion in this composition. Also thanks for telling me that 'Voice Of Passion' sucks. Almost bought it. Were you able to listen to 'Voices Of The Apokalypse' yet? I think they could sound pretty good. Ah yeah about your song...well yeah the voice isn't the best I say...maybe just my own silly taste of music. Everything else is perfect. Did you use 'Rare Instruments' from Native here?...so many questions, sorry ^^..

pf

MaestroRage responds:

hmmm, the drums from this are called Ethnic Drums from the VST East West Collossus. Though you could probably also find it in East West RA.

The deep hit you're hearing is a preset sample from Fruity Studio's itself! It's called Hit 5, and all I did to it was boost the bass end a little, and stack it, so you have the same sample playing at the same time set to different pitches. It effectively then creates a thick boom which encompasses a lot of the bass area. It's difficult to control when the song picks up and things are happening a lot.

I'm glad you didn't buy it. It's a horrible program in my opinion. I couldn't believe it was 500 dollars. It's got a good system set up for it, but what they recorded was a waste of my time. It's like a giant library of presets. You can't even tell 3 out of the 5 women in it what to sing, just a library of preset sample after another...

disgusting.

Voices of the Apocalypse I have, and it's 10 fold better then Voices of Passion.

I used a lot of soundfonts for this song as it was a song I started mid last year, so actually like 15 months ago *which explains why it's a little detached from my current style* All the soundfonts I used are from

www.sf2midi.com

brilliant little site.

Hope that helps, thank you for the review, i'm glad you liked it!

My god, sir.

This sounds almost detached from your style. Did you steal it? =P

Don't worry. I won't tell. I'd have stolen it too. It's good enough to be stealing worthy. =)

For whatever reason the style reminds me heavily of FF9. Not in any sort of remix fashion, but rather the atmosphere itself. You could probably stick this in at a few points in the game and have it fit.

I think it's because of it's medieval-type style. I always love tunes like this =)

And... WHAT EMOTION DOES THIS SONG GIVE DAMMIT! Thats the thing that bugs me most and astounds me most. The song seems confused in the emotion it actually portrays. But, thats not because it doesn't portray any, it seems to be portraying them all at once. It ends up being a very funky mosaic and my head asplode.

Overall, very good work.

MaestroRage responds:

I did steal it... I must admit :'(

FROM MY BRAIN >:}

Its pressing charges :(

As for emotions. Hmm, this song is tricky in the sense it is not so much trying to give you an emotion, but attempting to captivate you. Its focus is purely on generating imagery, scene after scene, letting you fill in stories, characters, entire cultures within seconds. In order to help accomplish this the intense mixture of sounds were necessary.

I hope you didn't make a mess, I hate it when people's head explodes and I have to clean it up because everybody is like "LETS MAKE THIS RANDOM KID CLEAN IT UP!"

:/

Thank you for the review, i'm glad you liked it!

wow just amazing MaestroRage

i bet you love all that new space to write :S but any way i loved this song :D its going on my favorites :D and trust me its hard for any song to get on there even yours :D

MaestroRage responds:

I do love the new space. It brings me great joy :')

This song is also a very unique song for me, I love making it, i'm glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for the review!

You Tackle Happy Songs, Too!

This is a really classically upbeat song, and the mixes of cultural music I seem to be hearing let you hit your goal spot-on. The apparently extended maximum Author Comment size seems to have given you room for a straightforward projection of your idea. It's worth noting how much wonder just having a thorough background story can add to a song. it provides a "reason" for the music, and furthers your intended tone.

I'm also not accustomed to hearing such a clear and well-used accordion, let alone on Newgrounds music!

10/10, 5/5. As is the rightful tradition.

MaestroRage responds:

I agree, I absolutely love the extended author writing space. I no longer have to rely on 90 characters to try and convey the story. Often times I want to tell specific details about why I put where, and let the reader realize that this is here for a reason and not because it sounded "neat".

There are some situations like Precious Seconds where I don't want the information present right away, in those situations I will continue to use my old account to leave the information as needed.

The accordion is actually a mix of two accordions. One is a soundfont and one is an ancient VST I have called Ethnosphere. The soundfont has a very clear middle to low register, the VST has a very crisp high register, which is why combining the two and leaving one out for a section for various reasons gives it a decent sound.

Thank you for the review, and the score, i'm glad you liked it!
