Reviews for "AIM - Atlantean Arbitrium"

kinda remind me of smt devil survivors and it sounds cool

Two minutes in and it definitely feels like the art. Love the feel. Not the most high quality mixing I'd say but it also adds to the feel that I like. The focus is definitely on the groove and for what this is I wouldn't want it any other way. Every once in a while you have a tendency to have the song feels like it drags in a couple of spots, but the song didn't feel too long, and I feel like the drag is because I'm hearing more of the distortion compared to the tone of the guitars like at 4:10. Not sure what advice I'd give since I don't know guitar sound design as well as I'd like, but all in all this was a fun 6 minute trip.

This song is absolutely fantastic.

I've heard of doom metal previously, but I was never really a fan of regular metal or hard rock to begin with, but I love the sound of this - especially the guitar riff that starts at 0:42.

Amazing work and you can expect a vote from me for the fan favorite process!

Thanks a lot! Glad you liked!

I like the ominous mood at the beginning. The guitars at :45 really help channel the intensity, although the piece is a bit slow to progress. The production quality is really solid - I love the crisp drums that start becoming prominent at around 1:45. The melodies at 2:20 really helped relieve the sense of apprehension in the first couple of minutes of the piece. That solo in the middle is so dynamic and well-executed. I like how the harmonies are momentarily tripping over each other at 4:40 - really adds to the sense of uncertainty in the texture. The piece really has a nice "slow burn," where it really grows on me after I get adjusted to the pace. Probably my favorite AIM piece I've listened to so far. Congrats on a baller track, Banana-head! ^^

Banana-head responds:

Thanks a lot man! The lead melodies were all improvised though haha, i had no main melody in mind when making this.

Speed up the tempo! It drags too much in the intro.

Mix could use more work. Process your drums with some parallel compression, EQ your guitars some more and give each one a spot in the mix. They’re clashing.

Props for recording your instruments. As a classical pianist, I appreciate people who both make music and play instruments themselves!

Banana-head responds:

Its Doom Metal man, the slower the better. Only reason it wasnt even slower its because i had a 6min limit for the contest.
And yeah i really need to learn mixing more if i want to be better at music, i had to google what parallel compression even is lol. I know only the very very basics of EQing and i just do that for every song i make, i rly should dive deeper into the subject.
Thanks for the review!
