On an isolated island in the middle of Guanabara Bay, parties took place that were attended by some of the most striking personalities of the 20th century. The hostess of these events, they say, was born from a snake's egg, spoke with animals, emitted an intense light from her body, and hypnotized the paying audience of her dance performances in downtown Rio de Janeiro. There are still mysteries and rumors about who Luz del Fuego really was. But for every Brazilian who has felt oppressed by moralism and injustice, her legacy continues to resonate. Much like the waves that continue to relentlessly crash on the shores of Ilha do Sol.

"A Ilha do Sol" is an animated short film financed by the Paulo Gustavo Law of Niterói. With animation direction by Constantin de Tugny, sets and models by Rodrigo Leme, screenplay by Matheus Albano, and production by CIA - Centro de Investigação Artística, the film will tell a version of the story of Luz del Fuego, an activist for environmentalism, feminism, and naturism who graced stages in Rio de Janeiro and around the world during the 1950s.

The film is now in pre-production, with a planned release for late 2025, but enjoy a teaser that shows a glimpse of this surreal and fantastic world we've created for "A Ilha do Sol" – a film that seeks to rescue and do justice to the memory of a Brazilian woman who becomes increasingly relevant and necessary with each passing day

Em uma ilha isolada no meio da Baía de Guanabara, aconteceram festas que contaram com a presença de algumas das personalidades mais marcantes do século XX. A anfitriã desses eventos, dizem, nasceu de um ovo de cobra, falava com os animais, emitia uma luz intensa de seu corpo e hipnotizava o público pagante de seus espetáculos de dança no centro do Rio de Janeiro. Ainda sobram mistérios e rumores sobre quem foi, realmente, Luz del Fuego. Mas para cada brasileiro que já se viu oprimido pelo moralismo e injustiça, seu legado continua repercutindo. Muito como as ondas que continuam batendo ininterruptamente na orla da Ilha do Sol.

A Ilha do Sol é um curta-metragem animado financiado pela Lei Paulo Gustavo de Niterói. Com direção de animação de Constantin de Tugny, cenários e maquetes por Rodrigo Leme, roteiro por Matheus Albano e produção do CIA - Centro de Investigação Artística, o filme contará uma versão da história de Luz del Fuego, uma ativista do ambientalismo, feminismo e naturismo que ocupou palcos do Rio de Janeiro e do mundo durante os anos 50.
