seems the second ending is time-based, you avoid taking the medication long enough and can then exit the kitchen and leave through the front door..
"To be conscious of being, you need to reclaim consciousness from the mind. This is one of the most essential tasks on your spiritual journey." - Eckhart Tolle
Altered is meant to take you through a monochromatic journey of self discovery, where a lot of the narration is meant for interpretation by the player. This short story is meant to display the mind and how it can be changed when needed, or forced, to adapt.
Don't be fooled there IS a point to the mushroom theme in the game, you'll have to look for it in game to learn the story and where they tie in.
Altered was created for the Mini Jam 156 event, created in 72 hours it is still very much in development at an early stage. Theme was mushroom, constraint was loop. I created this game with the idea that the prescribed medication the character uses throughout the game causes side effects due to the medicine stemming from Psilocybin, which in this case companies are actively creating experimental tablets to cure depression. The stuck in a loop limitation is through the story the player repeats the same jobs again and again displaying the lack of change in the character's life. However, it is up to the individual player to interpret these messages!
At this current state there will not be much interest in continuing major development in the project, but only time can tell.
