I hope you all like this minigame that I made with some friends especially for pixelday 2024.
ENERGY SEEKERS is a personal project that I some times work on, I do the Lore, designs, sprites and animations.
There is still a lot to do but I like to create content to introduce the characters and show some of their history.
ENERGY SEEKERS: IPD CONTRACTS
is intended as a mini-game but maybe in the future we will add some story
and more content.
But for now... MEET THE CHARACTERS!
Oscar: Manager of a declining business who driven by desperation and stress, he agreed to take
multiple operations and experimental robotic implants in exchange for a sum of money but these
caused him extreme pain every time he use them. With the help of a young Cyclops
he was able to control and considerably reduce the pain caused by the experimental parts.
Now he frequently takes contracts from the IPD to keep his business called "SEEKERS" open.
Tak: Dedicated to the manufacture, maintenance, and sale of weapons and mechanical parts.
Owner of a store in District 4 now called The Slums, also works as a doctor for the
cyborg and robot population in The Slums.
He saved Oscar's life on more than one occasion and the frequency with which Oscar requested
his medical services made them close friends. became a "Seeker" to repair Oscar's experimental
parts and to prevent him from taking any dangerous work on his own.

damn this is banger ngl
Hmm, it's a little bit janky and doesn't have much meat on its bones in terms of content, but I quite grew to like the core mechanic and found it to be quite fun and promising!
I really like the back and forth strategic juggling of switching characters, where you both need to factor in their strengths when dealing with certain enemies, while also covering for each other's cooldowns. Also, the art and animation is quite impressive and makes for a good first impression.
As said, though, the gameplay is a bit janky: could use some input buffering as I was getting ignored inputs when trying to spam shots, hitboxes felt a bit unclear and disjointed as there were times I'd be hit by an enemy that I had already killed. Was also rather short-lived as the game seems to run out of interesting enemy types and wave compositions rather quickly, meaning that eventually you just quit the game out of boredom instead of dying from increasing challenge.
Would love to see this in a future state with some more polish and greater depth/variety in gameplay!
Cool idea, and I love the art. :) There's not much to it yet, but it's a good base for a game.
Very arcade and simple to pick up.
Huge potential.
