At least adequately equal parts fun and challenging, especially on that last part, for me anyway. Thank you.

Man, you weren't kidding about those secret areas. Couldn't find one :/
Hack, slash, and parry your way through a labyrinthine dungeon of interconnected caverns and passages in this pixel-art souls-like metroidvania action-platformer!
Mother's Sword masterfully combines different gameplay elements - it features simple but engaging platforming that encourages you to explore, and addictively simple attack/parry based hack 'n' slash combat. It has a "souls-like" XP system where your reward for defeating enemies is "energy points", which you can spend at a "place of peace" (savepoint) to upgrade/learn new attacks. You can also find spells/items to heal yourself, damage your enemies, or grant you static buffs.
The pixel-art in this game is incredible, with beautiful backgrounds, distinct character designs, and awesome looking animations. The aimless and hypnotic music accompanies the visuals and gameplay nicely. Although this game is just a demo it offers a satisfying gameplay experience in and of itself, topped off with a fun and challenging boss battle. My main hope for the full release (aside from more content) would be to have a story/lore - the world you've created is visually intriguing and I'd like to learn more about it! Great work, highly recommended.
This game is fucking awesome.
Very good and enjoyable game, though flawed. My swings his about %40 of the time, sometimes when I go into a room, I just disappear, and some attacks from enemies (even tho should hit) miss. Other than these flaws, I think the game is great. Though it does lack story elements, and doesn't have much lore right now, so some of the game just makes no sense or has no depth. I'd really enjoy the full game, and I'll be looking out for it. Good luck with the steam release!
