Price's tournaments are a rare exception where fighters are allowed to get lethally hurt, which causes Pyre to lose his brother Tide.
After being falsely promised by ViX to get his brother brought back to life by Puppeteer, he decided no one else should suffer as he did, and went to take down the root of it all, Price.
Pyre entered Price's tournament and challenged Carny, Price's favorite fighter whom Price clearly favors.
Pyre wins the fight and threatens to kill Carny, and according to plan, Price cuts off the fight. This proved Price is rigging fights with his biases and showed how corrupt his arena rules are.
Pyre gathered people who sided with him and started a revolution to stop Price from being so high in power.
