Nice game, and I got S in one try.

MADE FOR THE COSTUMEJAM2023
YOU PUT ON CLOTHES BY CLICKING, NOT DRAGGING
Disguise and Conquer allows you to play as the High Commander, a seasoned veteran of Pretender Armada. Your mission is to blend into the Humans who reside in the United States, climb their "social ladder" and become President! It's a short game since I'm still fairly new to the game making process, plus it might be a little jank so keep an eye out for that. Please comment if you find any bugs or issues that prevent you from playing the game, and I'll work on fixing it!
I had fun making this little game for this Jam, GameJam's always motivate me to actually finish a game for once, so Im always glad when one comes around!
Nice game, and I got S in one try.
Cute game with a pretty decent idea where you dress for the occasion with your limited resources, but felt kind of dry and insubstantial, not making the most of it: would've loved it if for every costume we put together, we were to get a funny little cinematic where it shows us in-costume at whatever event we planned for and we can see the earthling's response and be graded. That'd feel so much better than the current setup and would really encourage replays. Also, when you put together a costume but then cancel, I don't think it should reset you to no clothes: keep everything on and let us adjust instead.
Thank you for the review! Cutscenes showing the consequences of your picks were planned, unfortunately, I didn't have a lot of free time during this jam to make it the best it could be so a lot of features and replay incentives were scrapped to put out a complete game. As for resetting the clothes, that was done to prevent a bug of rewarding the player with no points if they canceled and then hit confirm without changing the clothes. I admit it was a bandaid fix and if I had put more time into this, it could've been much better.
I do hope, if I have the time and motivation in the future, to make an update/sequel that'll push this concept to its peak and make an overall great game
Fun to play around with. Nice music and plot to it also. Was surprised to get S on first try. It is in fact the middle ranks, such as B & C, that are most tricky to get as you easily overshoot them.
Btw I also see the two black boxes in the main menu. I am on Mac + Firefox.
Forgot to mention this: good job with the words and letters on the medals.
Thank You! I'm guessing the black boxes are a Firefox thing because I'm on Mac + Chrome so I'll see if I can get that sorted
game not work for me
Sorry to hear that, I haven't come across the game not opening apart from mobile so I'll see what I can do on fixing that
nothing particularly elaborate, but i had fun mixing and matching.
the end screen dialogue is pretty funny.
been trying to figure out the values and i gotta say some of the items i thought were "obvious" for each disguise ended up actually giving less points than others.
either they were really well thought out specifically to make it difficult to get S rank, or the exact opposite of that lol.
also for some reason i can't see the buttons for story mode and free play on the main menu; it's just 2 black boxes.
it's at worst a visual glitch so it doesn't really affect gameplay, but i wanted to mention it in case it's only a problem on my side
currently making a guide but there's a lot of trial and error involved so it may take a while
EDIT: fixed

Thanks for the review! On the topic of the scores and getting S rank, they were specifically thought out but I should've done more to help players understand that better. I tested a bit with the main menu and I haven't encountered the black boxes glitch you mention, could be a issue with the file path to the texture sprites.
Also, if you need help with the guide: I can provide the specific numbers for each costume if you'd like!
