This is my computer science university project. If you can, please give feedback, especially the smart kind that I can include in my project report in two weeks. Or if you get a freeze, please open the console (under developer tools Ctrl+Shift+I) and share the error with me by PM.


I've been a programmer and designer for many years, but I only started learning non-pixel non-minimalist art and animation within the past year, so it looks bad, and I know that. I'm still torn between improving myself or looking for someone else to work with. I've been working so much on creating the gameplay systems basically from scratch, so I've not had much time or energy left for learning the artistic side, or worse, attempting to communicate and collaborate with peers. I've settled for making it look "good enough", due in part to the impending deadline. Though the gameplay isn't exactly polished either.


I plan to release a new version at some point in the future, perhaps a full-featured demo containing the first major story arc. Please consider following me if you find this game at least conceptually interesting.

I've seen this on the Haxe server and I like this and what its like so far. The cutscenes are a bit long but the gameplay ~~and the character editor~~ make it worth it. Pretty easy but I feel like the inputs could be better and that pressing on time is a bit tough.
Also I couldn't figure out how to get to other levels on the map, clicking doesn't seem to work.

Cutscenes I think kinda have to be longer at the start because of the exposition. I'm never sure how long cutscenes should be. Sometimes I think they're too long, and then I play a JRPG and my perceptions get completely recalibrated. I don't know, I'm not a writer.

What do you mean by "could be better"? You can set the timing difficulty, which makes it easier or harder to get on time.

As for the map, you can only teleport to locations you've been to already (indicated with a dot), and you can only travel by foot on trails connected to your current location. Where are you in the game?

quite a nice concept so far, I'll be hoping for more
