First Person Shoveler - Godot Wild Jam #45

Author Comments

Can you dig up all the treasure before the time runs out? What's your best time?

This is a small first-person, platforming adventure created for the Godot Wild Jam #45, with the theme "Underground". This game was made in about a week!

All of the 3D models (except for the shovel) are custom artwork created for specifically for this game. The music is also completely original! The rest of the art assets are credited individually in the Credits screen in-game.

Thanks For Playing!

HTML5 Warning!

The game DOES work in HTML5 (tested with Google Chrome and Brave), but with reduced performance and less attractive visuals. Since this is a 3D game, it may take a moment to load.

You may need to click in the game TWICE for the game to capture the mouse, and press the ESC key TWICE in order to bring up the pause menu.

The first time particles spawn causes a bit of a hitch in performance. This is a known issue.

Having hardware acceleration turned on in Chrome may also help if you're experiencing performance issues! However, if you have any further issues, we recommend downloading one of the desktop builds on the itch.io page!

Controls
  • Movement = the W, A, S, D keys and MOUSE
  • Jump = the SPACE key (and HOLD to jump full height)
  • Dig = LEFT CLICK and HOLD
  • Pause = the ESC key

Explore Mode!

Try out Explore mode to play the game without time limit!

W00t, more 3D Godot games!

I didn't realize you could get away with having that much non-primitive 3D stuff without running into computational efficiency issues on an HTML5 export. I've been sticking to very low-poly in my games, but this runs great in my browser so I should give more complex stuff a shot and see how much the envelope can be pushed. The fact that this was all modeled for a jam is pretty impressive to me.

Solid team = Solid Game

These guys were absolute rockstars to work with!

Pretty nice! It could benefit from some more distinction between platforms, and I will say that there was probably a better way to open the things than math (maybe make the timer longer and switch it up between some math problems and some other mini logic puzzles?) But even though I finished in 3:58 and only on my second try I think with a few added mechanics and some refining on the graphics side of things it could be a pretty fun game-of course (It was made for a game jam so there were probably corners that had to be cut due to time limit things so the general roughness is understandable)

LoganNG responds:

The math was admittedly a placeholder, as you probably could discern. I appreciate your honest feedback, and I also appreciate you viewing it through the lens of the game jam!

Incredible game, the 3d is great.

LoganNG responds:

Much appreciated! Thanks for playing!

good game : D

LoganNG responds:
