UPDATE! (January 8, 2022 - Post-Jam)

  • The game now initializes with music and sound volume set to 100% by default.

Created for the Ludwig Jam 2021! Also on itch.io!

In this game, you play as a pawn trying to climb a castle with a grappling hook.

Thanks to Ludwig and Ottomated for hosting the jam, thanks to Kubbi for the Creative Commons music, and thanks to Newgrounds for, well, a lot of things!

Notes:

  • This is the first time I’ve joined a game jam. It’s kind of exciting, to say the least. It’s also the first time I’ve really been motivated to make and finish a game.
  • I heard about this jam from someone on the Discord server for a game called Happenlance. It had a demo recently, it’s out right now, and I loved the gameplay. Please play Happenlance.
  • The mechanics of this game are inspired by a flash game called IQ Ball. That game has physics puzzles where your grappling hook pulls things towards you. This one doesn’t. In fact, the only physics involved here is the physics of your own character.
  • I wanted to record these notes myself and put them in the game. On one hand, that’s a thing Bennett Foddy did, and it was pretty cool. On the other hand, that’s a lot of time and I only started this game jam like half of the way in. I also wanted to put these notes in as TTS but I, joining halfway in, felt like I didn't have enough time for that either.
  • The song playing in the background is by Kubbi, an artist I really like. His music is under CC-BY, so no DMCA problems here! You may also have heard some of his other music from Ph1lza, Just Shapes & Beats, and the game SNKRX.

What you know about rolling down in the deep.

buen juego en especial la fisica

cool game! the is really good considering this is your first game jam, the movement could use some tweaking here or there but is fairly solid. i wished the level designed was slightly more open it feels really good to gather up speed but with how the game is i find myself constantly having to slow myself to a stop. over all good shit!

magpyfeather responds:

Thanks! I kinda wanted a slower, more methodical game, but I understand that high speed is really, really fun too. And also makes for really good speedruns.

The game is very good. It requires skill to play, but it's very fun.

The physics feel awesome, although I still suck at the game.... Great work!
