My 2nd unity game. As you could tell from the title this is run and gun game similar to something like Contra, Metal slug Alien Hominid, etc. (It Isn't as good as those games but that's okay)

Only 2 levels right now but I'll add more in the future (Maybe I'll make a top down level sort of like something from Contra 3, No promises though)

Like Brain-washed mentioned, the bullet range is a little short. but there are a few other things going on here. The player is large in comparison to the playing field. There is not enough drag on the player controller. there is not enough general feedback in the game. it feels like the square is rolling. the jump feels very weak for a 2d platformer. wall jumping doesnt feel good. The controls are very un-intuitive. I would default to space bar being jump, and using Z and X for crouch and shoot would be fine. having those three in a seemingly arbitrary order is actually hard to remember. You want to crouch but jump. Platformer pits traditionally have lips to them, and platformer designers usually allow the player some coyote time. Here if you go over just a hair you are dead. I would spend more time studying the tropes of the genre and decide what this games core is.

The visuals look nice! its simplicity works for it! The crouch felt very juicy!

jumping stops you for a few frames when holding a direction
bullets are too short range, don't need to be infinite but a little bit longer would be nice (for you and enemies)
it's ok but needs a lot of work, best of luck finishing

Ok I fixed your issue with the bullets being too short ranged. Not sure how I can fix that jumping issue, but can you at least give me 3 stars?
