Controls:

  • Move with the arrow keys

  • Accelerate with x


Take a break is a mix between a racing and a platformer game in which you have to reach the flag before your opponent, avoid obstacles or use them as tools to go quicker. 


Also remember that your character will be exhausted if it is always moving, so take a break when needed.


This game was made for the Mini Jam 87, with Break as the theme, and pacifist as the limitation.

Not bad. Too easy to complete, doesn't seem to require either any skill or any strategy. I never felt like I was faced with a choice that could influence the outcome of the game. Just keep going forwards basically. None of the obstacles made me think "this looks hard, what am I going to have to do to get around this one?" The game is very easy if you make use of the bombs, though a bit trial and error as you don't know where you're gonna land. The graphics are nice but the music doesn't seem to match the game and the game experience doesn't have a well-defined "feel" or atmosphere. Instadeath when the energy bar runs out was annoying as there wasn't even an accompanying warning, or some kind of animation (eg making the energy bar flash) to show you what was going on - you're just running along, then suddenly you're back at the level start again, without explanation. At least put in some kind of transition scheme to show it's the lack of energy which was the problem, even if it's just watching the exhausted character fall into a heap? EDIT: I mean it was still fun, though. Also I should mention, the controls felt tight, which I liked. Nothing worse in a speed/precision platform game than when controls aren't responsive properly, so this was good.

I agree with you about what you said, the music, the transition and the stamina bar animation or explanation.

This game was made for a game jam, (during 3 days) and I did not have time to improve the game as I wanted to.

It's baffling to me how you progressively gave less of a shit about your games over time, as this is one of your best ones.

The game's name should be "Moonlander" because the real meta is to use bombs and acceleration to properly cheese half the level. It's funny but you've coded fun into your game accidentally, if that was the point, hat's off.

I see why you no longer use music, whatever you wrote here is hard on the ears. Just license some free or learn basic composing, it's not that hard.
The controls and the acceleration screen stutter are eh, however they aren't that bad.

AlSO WHAT CRUEL GOD MAKES HIS SUBJECTS LOSE STAMINA WHILE AIRBORNE?!

Cool game, but there is a minus in that the actions do not work too quickly

I have just fixed a bug that the player gets stuck and other about the graphics so the terrain does not look layered, I hope this changes fixed the problem :)
