It was very fun and light-hearted. Also, the music was good and fit perfectly.
I had to hold down the "O" and "P" keys for the Junpei level though.

I've been playing this game for hours. I don't even know how much time has passed or what time it is right now because I'm in Fullscreen and refuse to tab out or check the time. I don't know how long I've been on the final boss on cool mode but it scares me as I wonder if it's even possible with the painful controls with the hoverboard. My fingies hurt the same way Rena's fingies got hurt in Onikakushi.

I expected a Higurashi game and clicked immediately, but then I've got something very different... Usually, I'm very sceptical of the games that borrow assets from somewhere else. They don't feel like an original artist's vision but just a regular collage instead. This game, however, felt like a dreamt up definition of the art itself. I's just right as it is, but then you wake up and see the obvious differences between the elusive reality and even more elusive, when awake, Morpheic theories. Rena Game is Rena Game. But that's not the problem, here. This game has all the cheap stylistic choices, but it totally works in the game's favour and isn't irritating at all. The game puts you in a mood and I really enjoyed that mood. It's really unfair on the hard diffiulty and I'd love to say that I beat it, but I was so tired during the final boss' second form, that I cheated. And I never cheat in games. Also, one of the bosses (I believe it was the first one after entering the restroom) is totally skippable, because the door just isn't there behind them. You really bought me with your weird game and you deserve these stars just for the soundtrack alone. Take care. (edit: I've managed to beat the final boss on normal just after writing this. The problem with beating it on hard was that every time I had to go through the first form again and again)

There is a bug where if you are holding the shoot button down, it keeps making the shooting noise when you go through a door. I was holding x and went into Papa Johns, and it wouldn't stop the sound. Also...

So many games use Z and X for shoot and jump, but not necessarily in that order. Muscle memory is a bitch. Why are remappable controls still not a thing in 2020? :'( And I'm sure every AZERTY/QWERTZ keyboard user just blammed and moved on, lol.

Anyway, pretty entertaining bullet hell overall. The first boss with ricocheting shots at the pizza parlor felt a little too RNG, but everything else was definitely fair. Jump physics are awkward: you don't get any hangtime at the zenith of your jump unless it's a full-height jump, which is highly unrealistic and makes jumps feel imprecise. Fixing that (and making controls remappable) would make gameplay feel a lot tighter.

Also, I forget which boss it is (the second pizza parlor boss?), but the one who sits at the middle of the screen and fires yellow+blue+green shots all around forgot to lock her exit door. I gave myself a break on that boss and just cheesed her to death with hit-and-run tactics accordingly.
