Andashi and Rin vs Vane Fight ( Short WIP )

Share Collapse

So, I've been working on this one for a matter of months, along with other projects which I may eventually post here. This is still a WIP. Scenes may be changed, added, etc, by the time it's all done. I can tell this took a lot, but like Kikoshou said, if we could get those establishing shots this would be a little easier to follow. I got lost a few times in the action, but this was still cool to watch. Nice Work!

BestofNesia responds:

Thanks! And yeah, it's a WIP, so I haven't put in the establishing shots just yet.

There's some good stuff here, especially considering I imagine this is a solo work. If I could offer a couple comments, the first would be to start this off with some simple establishing shots. The battle starting in the middle combined with how often blur and stretch techniques are applied(not to mention the location has zero points of reference given that it's space) makes it impossible to really understand what is happening for the first 30 seconds.

The second thing would be to cut the strange shots of pure environment after attacks. To make anything have impact or clear effect, you want to have the shot blocked such that the environment between the beginning of the attack and the target has a clear through line. However with what I think is happening shows that the target is above the attack, and yet the camera focuses on what's below. Once again, I get that because it's space there is essentially no environment to work with, which is why I'd say ditch those shots entirely and cut right to the target either dodging or interacting with the attack.

Obviously as a work in progress it'd be unfair to deduct much for more obvious issues such as a lack of inbetweens or how far too often there isn't so much animation as much as their is a still image transitioning into a smear, but I think with perhaps a little work to clear up some vague key framing this could really start to shape up into something impressive.

amazing work, i like it your style animation :D

Thanks!

Looks incredible, definitely make longer ones.
