Colony (second year, second semester final animation)

Share Collapse

This is one of two animations I did for my second semester at university. We had to produce a 3 minute animation based on a short story that hasn't already been adapted into other mediums.

I decided to adapt the short sci-fi story 'Colony' by Philip K. Dick of Blade Runner fame.

In tandem with the other animation, I managed to receive a very high grade.

great work lous keep up hard work! great job on scenery ! love the cartoon style!

The concept was quite interesting, and the animation and style are pretty cool. Some things needed work, though, but it is a student project. I quite liked some of the kills, but the voice acting wasn't very good, and some parts of the story seemed kinda pointless. Like, the guy who didn't believe the.scientist died immediately after that, and the guys who carried him away just sort of forgot about it, I guess. Also, the ending is a bit weird, since it didn't seem to have a clear point. Events also developed kinda quickly, so it was a bit disorienting. I definitely see potential in this, though, so keep doing what you're doing!

LouisAC1996 responds:

Thank you for the advice. I'm not really a good voice actor and I would love other people to do the voices instead.
Also my storytelling could be better as well. I'm glad you have better understanding of my own cartoon than I do.
