A simple, cute retro version of classic Chess made in Pico-8. Full implementation of the Chess rules(*) with a juicy interface and some basic AI to play against. Created as part of the Chess Jam 2018.
Instructions:
- You might need to click the window to gain focus
- Use the cursor keys to move the cursor
- Use the X, M or V key to select
- Use the Z, M or C key to cancel
- *Note: Game will not recognize draw by threefold repetition

Awesome! It really feels like some retro action game!
The way "check" is announced every time, then gets pushed heavily with "mate" adds to it!
Not to mention the graphics, – sure, they are not liked by all-all – but I think they are very good made.

wins every time. Computer plays the same moves each game. Not very clever... User plays white, bot plays black
love it. i spent so much time with it decembre last year and im happy to plays it again :3
