Sheep It Up! is an arcade game where a sheep has to climb up by hanging himself to flying velcro straps. The concept is simple, but the game rapidly gets quite challenging: how high can you climb without falling down?

-= About =-

This is an actual Game Boy game, playable on any model of the console: from the original Game Boy to the Game Boy Advance SP including the Game Boy Pocket, the Game Boy Color, the Super Game Boy and the Game Boy Player! Of course the game will also run in any Game Boy emulator program. To play it on a emulator, you can download the ROM file of the game here:

If you want to play it on an actual Game Boy, you can buy a Sheep It Up! cartridge for a mere 15$ (+shipping). The game cartridges are made with newly manufactured parts, and are assembled by hand:

Last but not least, you can also enjoy the game here using an online emulator programmed in Javascript: the GameBoy Online emulator by Grant Galitz

It doesn't run well on mobile. Choppy frames, sound, and movement, but I saw the demo video on Gamasutra and it looks good there. +2 stars because it's available on GameBoy. A cool story. Makes me wonder where my GameBoy is ...

drludos responds:

Hi, sorry you had a bad experience on mobile.

May I ask what device you use? I know that the Javascript-based Game Boy emulator needs quite a lot of CPU power (games are running at 60fps). As the rom is free to download, you can also try a native Game Boy emulator app for your mobile, you should have smooth performance that way.

Anyway, thanks for the kind words, and I hope you'll find your GameBoy!

I don't see any reason to give this game bonus points for having a Nintendo trademark. So much trademark worshiping in reviews. Objectively this is just a common endless climber, rather fun at start but gets repetitive quickly Why do people give this 5 stars? Go and play the game "Going Up" by Gonzossm and you will see a climber game worth 5 stars. This one just lacks diversity of gameplay elements to come even close.

Browser games have wider opportunities then Game Boy. For instance adding public high-scores. Why was this not done? How do I interpret my score without them? If there is no ending that means that all that remains is competition between players. So many people put in work in these endless games but release with them without public highscore table - making playing them useless and reducing my score significantly.

Also I dislike that score is made by length of jumps and not actual height reached. At least height should be displayed as alternative scoring system.

BEST NEWGROUNDS GAME YET!

Simple but fun concept. The controls were nice and responsive. A lot of the times games like this only let you jump straight up, but being able to maneuver added a fun element and made it easier to save yourself if you missed. But gameplay does get a bit stale after a little while. Also, the music was a bit unpleasant. I know it's an actual gameboy rom, but the gameboy does have some nice music on it so I know it can be done. That being said, the fact that it's an actual gameboy rom is very cool, and I love that you can get an actual cartridge with the game on it. I'd love to see more fleshed out gameboy games from you in the future.

Love the game, and the style, and the simplicity of it all! Super easy to get into, and addicting too, just want to go again and again... would be nice with some medals to mark accomplishments though. ;) Good fun.
