The mad Wizard in his tower has sent his minions to terrorize the countryside. With the army away in foreign lands, a lone stranger enters the Wizard's tower to end his menace.

You play as a lone adventurer who seeks to put an end to the threat of the mad wizard. Navigate a challenging dungeon, filled with traps and foes. Use the map that you will pick up early on in order to find various equipment, and use them in turn to traverse the myriad obstacles the tower presents to you.

In the tower you will find a spear that will allow you to slay foes and bounce on their heads, a pair of gloves that will allow you to slide down walls and also cling to them and jump from them, and last but not least, a light cloak that will allow you to glide as you fall.

Tower of The Wizard: Gameboy Adventure, is a metroidvania platformer at heart. You need to explore a vast, open castle, and use your map and your skills to progress. The game is a love letter to the old platformers, and is very challenging. You will need a lot of patience and practice to progress in the game, but once you finally cross a pesky section by pulling off a series of connected maneuvers, you will feel like the biggest badass of them all!

YES! FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!

*accidentally press R*

SHIIIITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT

well, the game is great, but 4 star for this.........

I pressed 'R' by accident and the whole game restarted. T_T

The game is good, but the wall-jumping controls are really bad to a point where it just becomes tedious and sometimes unresponsive. Try playing super meatboy and see how nice it works there. ( Yes, I've read other reviews where the answer was that on mobile it's worse, but that's not a valid answer. You can do better. )

I like the difficulty, it reminds me of old Game Boy games, it's great. Just improve the controls a tiny bit.

Also thumbs up for HaxeFlixel.

add achivements ;) i think this is a great game but achivements sum it up

Enjoyable game, definitely ramps up in difficulty as it went on. The last section drove me nuts.

I do have one complaint on something that will keep me from finishing the game (at least for now); during a particularly thorny part, after many many retries, I hit the 'R' key in frustration, thinking that maybe it would bounce me back to the checkpoint without throwing myself into a death. Instead, it reset the entire game, almost an hour's worth of investment gone with no means of retrieval. While the minimal tutorials are nice, in this case a clear description of ALL the key functions would have prevented this.

I actually managed to complete this. I get that a game shouldn't be too easy but a lot of parts in the game felt unfair. This kind of difficulty is more fitting for a game that creates a checkpoint every room, but this game used checkpoints very sparingly. The character is floaty in the air but that is a design choice, not a flaw. However, after getting the glider upgrade a little extra control in the air would be nice.
A big flaw was the wall jumping. The vertical boost when wall jumping should be way higher and the fact that you had to keep using the directional buttons towards the wall when jumping felt a bit annoying.
The final boss was nice but I don't get why I had to do the first part 2 times, that was just weird.
The general theme of the game was great. When in the last part of the game the background and skulls really made it feel like a gameboy game. The music was also fitting.
