game not original, nothing new, nothing innovative
Eat the food and grow your snake
game not original, nothing new, nothing innovative
Name is misleading - where are the cubes, I see only squares!
The concept isn't exactly new, it's just a copy of the plain old Snake game I've known 10-15 years ago. You can play this for days if you are bored enough.
What I miss is at least a little spark of innovation. The only thing you do is count points. There are no upgrades, levels, special effects, sound effects, or music. I'm playing this on the internet, yet the game does not even offer me to share my highscore with others. That's a lot of opportunities wasted.
As far as I can tell, there is only one background image, which is not very pleasing aesthetically, as there are diagonal stripes, which go against the minimal quad design of the snake and collectibles.
A bit on the easy side, but it's functional and genuinely enjoyable. It actually provided a high amount of tension and rage whenever I failed. But don't take that as a bad thing; anger is not boredom, anger gets shit done. And in doing that, it really captured the feel of retro 80's arcade cabinet games.
Overall; keep up the level of design quality, but have it expand more. Add sounds, flashy light effects, do what game designers in the 80's COULDN'T do.
It's not really original y'know?
It's been done many times before. My review would've been higher if you added a twist to it, like random achievements, or even being able to re texture the background and add ridiculous stuff. A certain game comes to mind with an elephant protagonist but I can't remember the name. Anyway, keep trying and if you're gonna recycle something, be sure to re-invent it
Nothing to new, just a snake game with pixel
