Gold Leader is a traditional pixel art space shoot 'em up, kept lean and simple for players looking to just dive in for a couple minutes now and then and blast things in their spaceship.

Not very much interesting...
Without even having tried the game yet, you get a 5 solely based on the fact that you can customize the controls. Great job! We need more of this on Newgrounds. It's like we've been stuck for 10 years with the same folks making games and learning nothing, keeping them at the same level as when they started.
The game sounds and feels great, however I feel that the ship should be able to angle it's shots, as you have to jump into the line of fire to actually hit anything, since enemies jut constantly spam their attack and have no real interesting qualities other than they look different.
Has potential but needs some tweaking;
1) The difficulty needs to be toned down or there needs to be a setting. I found it impossible to hit an enemy without them hitting me first.
2) The objective is very unclear. I was told to 'Disable the Sensor Grid' but despite destroying all the square objects I could, at a seemingly random point I failed the mission and had to start over. I had no idea what the Sensor Grid even was let alone what it looked like.
3) The ship control is a bit floaty, especially when using a controller through Xpadder which I'm thinking a surprising number of people will do for this sort of space shooter.
4) More of a minor thing. The explosion sound when you destroy an enemy is overbearingly loud. It's fine that it overrides the music but it also cancels out every other sound and it's offputting.
All that said this is the best space shooter I've seen on here in a long time and I sincerely hope you make some adjustments and it gets through judgement :)
Hi Pyromania,
The Sensor Grid is indeed the boxes. In each of the first couple missions, the first thing you see is what you have to destroy. You can miss up to 3 of them before failing a mission, or die 3 times.
Thanks for the helpful comments!
