This is a 3D animated short film prologue I spent 9 months working on, it was made in Autodesk Maya and rendered using Pixar's Renderman. The film is about a mysterious character who explores the dark depths of a giant abandoned facility. The purpose of this instalment is to create an atmosphere and establish the environment. It acts as a prologue to a whole series of upcoming shorts films about the character's journey through the facility; this is just the first phase of the story.

If you have played ICO for the PS2, you may know what I mean when I say that the atmosphere is very similar to that. And ICO is a phenomenal game. The atmos you've created here is spot-on and I'm really looking forward to further episodes. To answer Nicholas below me, I agree about the running animation; that could definitely improved. The elevator sequence, however, I actually thought worked quite well. Anyway, grats on this film, has real potential.

ooooooooo, that was really cool, and creepy. i felt a little uneasy with that other dude watching the main guy, but like others have said the character model could use some improvement, he looks really stiff and holds the gun awkwardly, but i really like the environmental look. i really like your building designs too! :D

Given what you say this film's purpose is in the description, it's fucking ACE.
The atmosphere was perfectly staged by the long shooting and music, and don't even get me started on the aesthetic. It was that wonderful, advanced-yet-bulky feel with the expansive and awe-inspiring size that made Halo's forerunner tech so appealing.
I can't WAIT to find out more about this universe. Good on ya, mate.

This is definitly going to be a good series, the atmosphere was very eerie to say the least. Also the guy looked kind of like Isaac Clarke from the first Dead Space. Other than that my only criticism is the running at the beginning, it seemed too long to me. Still, great use of animation, environment, music, and the suspense at the end.
