i remember playing this almost 10 years ago, it still holds up very well.
the synthesis mechanic is pretty cool and unique for this kind of game. overall, pretty cool

Because of biochemistry polluting in a island, a mass of bugs become evil, start attacking trees. You are sent on the mission of planting out biochemical trees, defeat the evil bugs.
Controls:
You can move the screen by clicking and dragging with the mouse (or by using the arrow keys).
You can zoom in and out of the screen by using the mouse wheel (or the Z and X keys).
Press the spacebar to return the screen its original position.
Amazing. This is the fist tower defense game I have played like this. Its unique, beautiful graphics and I love how you can synthesize your fruits to make new towers. You actually have to work to get things done in this game. Instead of just rapidly clicking I mean.

Fresh, creative, quality defense game
This is *not* just one of those innumerable, forgettable, copy-cat games you see so much of on NG anymore. This one actually opens up new types of gameplay in an established genre, and is beautiful and well-executed to boot. This is one I actually come back to day after day and continue enjoying the challenge of. I really don't understand why it does not have a 4+ score, I guess it's not a violent platformer with a crude sense of humor...
