July 28: version 1.2 - the editor and mission vault are now available from the start.

The year is 2442. The world lies in ruins, shattered by an atomic war that laid waste to civilization and turned the world into desolate wasteland. A few people live on in isolated pockets, preyed on by mutant bugs, the new rulers of our blighted land. The bugs strengthen by the day; it will not be long before long before they overwhelm us all.

To survive we must take the bugs on and use their hunger against them, let them attack and wipe them out as they come. We must build our defenses, making them bigger and better to take on ever more and stronger bugs.
We will prevail. We must prevail.

But now ... the bugs are using tunnels ... the bugs are underground !

A pathing tunnel defense. Place guns to shoot and block bugs and stop them escaping. Upgrade your weapons and abilities to take on more, stronger bugs. Access the vault to play missions made by other users, and unlock the editor to make your own.

It froze when I went to exit out of the fifth tutorial.

Not the best of Tower games

As of writing this review, I've yet to beat the game. I don't plan on beating it in the near future, either. Game is way too hard. Getting awards and better high scores gives you more upgrade/bonus points, but I don't want to be forced to go beat levels over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over again JUST to stand a minute percentile of a chance against the last level I can play. I'm not the best of tower defense players, or that great of a gamer in general, but it's at the point where it's hard enough for me to want to go play another tower defense game that I CAN beat, without all this level replaying BS.

Replaying levels wouldn't be so bad if you had a more simplistic system for getting out-of-grid bonuses and upgrades. Like, I dunno, an experience/leveling system. At least then I could grind earlier levels for experience, without having to try to do something as arbitrary and difficult as Waves 5, or Spill Expert.

Speaking of Spill Expert, good luck with that. The gun towers in this game are the usual archetypes for tower defense games, save for spill, which might be kind of unique since it does splash damage, but it is fucking HORRIBLE. It's slow, the splash radius is way too small, the splash chance should always hit the enemies behind and in front of the targeted enemy, it costs way too much for it's shitty firepower-- it's just useless. Completely outclassed by the cheaper, stronger, far-ranging spike gun. Which incidentally happens to be my favorite tower in this game. Alas I haven't gotten far enough to unlock any of it's out-of-grid upgrades.

I don't totally hate this game though. I like the concept of out-of-grid universal upgrades and bonuses for towers, being able to reset those upgrades/bonuses without penalty, how the sound effects for bugs and guns are panned, the very precise visual (pre)views of tower placement (which can be clumsily handled in other tower defense games), etc. For what it is, it's okay to kill some some time with for a while, but as someone who intends to beat a game without spending their entire evening on it, I think I'll play another tower defense game.

I've played worse

As a tower defense game, it isn't bad. However, aside from price, all of the towers seem identical, and I think that the game starts out way to difficult. The first few levels should be very simple.
