Project Omega

This game is a redone version of a game I completed in C++. The original title is "Project Omega: Impossible Odds", but it was a little too long for submission. The game has a fairly simple concept, but can get difficult as it progresses.

Touching the walls means instant death, so avoid those at all cost. Enemies that crash into you deal significant damage as well. If that weren't bad enough, enemies will also fire ahead, and can drop explosive crates when destroyed.

However they can also drop powerups like bonus speed, damage, health, or bonus score. There is no ending, so do your best to get the high score.

Movement is completed with the arrow keys, W fires, S releases an energy core for enemies coming from behind, and A and D change weapons.

Please try and refrain from holding down fire, you will just waste ammo and be forced to change weapons quicker.

Lastly, there is a lot going on at times, so you might want to turn down the quality if it runs slow for you.

Edit: Made some of the weapons fire faster, and changed the game type. I did not see the avoid type when I first submitted it. This game was designed much more towards survival than a shooter.

Fun, but faulty

The games fun and its a good time waster, but gameplay was a bit faulty.
The guns didnt always shoot fast enough to destroy upcoming ships, and i'm unsure if this was your design, but in certian parts of the game where the walls are only a ships thin, this was pretty annoying.

The music was also repetitive, but not terrible.
Its a fun game, but it needs a bit of improving

Apathetic-Chaos responds:

I beefed the weapon speeds a bit, but yes, the walls closing in is intentional. Remember you can fire an energy core out the back with 'S'. You just don't have an unlimited supply. Although they do drop from enemies.

And if you can find me a better sound loop that is royalty free, I will throw it in. Or you can just mute the sounds in the options if you want.

Average

It wasn't all that original, there was only one kind of ship to pick from, you cant change controls, and I didn't see the progressing difficulty that you spoke of.

Apathetic-Chaos responds:

Yeah I changed the game type from shooter to skill-avoid. You were clearly expecting a much more in depth shooter, but it's intended as a quick evasion game.
