YOU CAN TURN BACKGROUND STARS OFF IN THE OPTIONS MENU!

This is a game I have been working on in my spare time to improve my skills with actionscript.
It's an arcade style shooter with a fair variety of weapons and enemies. I put a lot of time into this, hope you enjoy.

Please note: some testers told me the background stars were confusing them, so I dimmed them down quite a bit. If they still bother you I added a choice to turn them off in the options menu.

This game has been done a million times...

the background looked like the enemys bullets. it was hard to follow and dodge them.

Not bad...

Its a alright little game good job. But in the future do something a tad bit more original. Not saying there is anthing wrong with space invaders.

Ok but a bit buggy

Not bad but the sound bugs so that even when it is off you still get an occasional explosion or other sound.

iameatingjam responds:

yeah I added that as a last minute request and I didn't know how to make a real mute function so I just ran a stopAllSounds() every frame lol. Which worked as far as I tested it.

Overall a solid game.

Hey, Good game you've got here. I just have a couple of minor complaints.
Starting off, this game is pretty solid, but as you go further into it you find yourself getting overwhelmed. These types of games are really only re playable if they are possible. It just seems like the ships where appearing randomly, with no pattern or anything.

People like patterns. It makes games like this much more fun when you know what is coming.
And also, set the ships spawn points a little further off screen, You can see them just appearing.

Overall, good job.

Thanks for the review
no enemies should spawn out of nowhere. They either start at the top left or right and work there way down the screen like centipede or start at the top of the screen and randomly fly straight down or go horizontally across at the lower left part of the screen and fly across straight to the right.
What ones exactly appear randomly?
