We are new to newgrounds, and just starting to get the hang of flash. We wanted to put this video up to see if it actually works, so please don't judge it too critically, and any tips on Flash would be greatly appreciated.

it works sort of
the music loops. it works on the site but is way to short to be relavant
Decent
First of all the music keeps looping over as it plays back forcefully and the loader stays on the screen the entire time. The Flash apart from those flaws is OK. Its a little choppy and maybe a little too slow. Also, the flash is clearly way too short. I am not saying these to say you suck, but I'm saying them so that you read this and improve in those areas.
I understand that its your first animation so its decent if you take the flaws out of the contest.
Great Drawing
The drawings are amazing. Great style. I'm not sure how the swf is 4+ mb... erm. To improve you need a pre-loader, i thought the movie was broke. Also, the sound loops. im not sure how you put this flash together so im not sure how to advise you on fixing it. But you might want to look at
MySound= new Sound(this);
MySound.attachSound("Linkage");
MySound.start();
MySound.stop();
a bit of pratice and your be a pro :).

Thanks for the input, I will work on actionscripting the music later, for now i just took it off so it would stop looping.
Keep Trying
First off, as the video repeats, a second song begins to play over the first. Eventually several copies of the song build up.
If you're going to have an actual movie:
1) Learn to have a restart button instead of just restarting the movie automatically.
2) Learn to pause, start, and stop sounds.
3) Learn to get rid of the play button once the video plays.
