Lest we Forget
Very nice satire.
Yes and Yes again
The mark of good satire is how closely it brushes shoulders with its subject. I remember seeing a mattress store advertisement celebrating Memorial Day with a parody of Lincoln giving the Gettysburg Address (before veering off into the subject of MASSIVE SAVINGS) and it just made me cringe, mainly wondering what Lincoln himself would think of seeing the turning point of the civil war, the re-defining of American rights, and the massive battle which took place at Gettysburg, all warped into some 30 second spot pitching mattresses... I can understand why some would be offended by this...To know that there's a strong possibility that 50-100 years from now, 'REMEMBRANCE DAY SALE' ads portraying WWII like this could be very real. Hurts, doesn't it?
I found that there are actually quite a few Memorial and Veterans Day sales in the States. If a store has a Remembrance Day Sale in Canada, people will actually protest them and get it shut down. Crazy!
After watching one I decided to go through your list of stuff. And I got to say. Your funny man. And that's incredible how you twisted savings. Yes it reflected a sad ordeal but who doesn't want high prices to go bye bye. And with that said this was a great reflection of savings ads in an epic twisted way.
Right on dude.
Thanks so much! If you ever read this response, be sure to check out the new version!
awesome and all too true
Hilarious... yet sad.
Anyone who doesn't get it and thinks this is offensive probably shouldn't be allowed unsupervised access to the internet.. or you know, the world.
You'd be surprised at the hate mail I've gotten over this. Someone in the Canadian Forces apparently wants to kill me. Yay!
Very, very good satire.
Anything for a sale. You totally showed that with this commercial that was all about pushing bargains. I would love to see more of this, as it was great. The animation, sound, and concept were fantastic.
Thanks! And sorry for the late reply!
